Test Day, Again?

You know, I was really hoping that after yesterday's chaos, today would be, I don't know, chill. Maybe some peaceful hiding, avoiding eye contact, and pretending I belong here. But no. Apparently, I'm not allowed nice things.

I was already feeling a little on edge after the whole "helping people and nearly getting exposed" thing, so I figured today I'd just lay low. You know, maybe sneak around a bit, avoid any attention. Just a nice, quiet day. But the moment I stepped out of the dorms of course sneaking in there cause I don't belong there, there he was. Kalego. Standing there with that eternal scowl.

Oh no.

What fresh hell is this?

Kalego: You.

Great, just the person I was hoping to avoid.

AND I DO HAVE A NAME!

I AM NOT CALLED YOU!

Me: Morning, Kalego-sensei. Lovely day, isn't it? Birds are probably screaming somewhere, demons lurking around every corner, just a regular—

Kalego: Save it. Today you're being tested again.

Tested?

Again?!

I just survived yesterday!

Me: Wait, again? Didn't I pass yesterday with... uh, flying colors?

Kalego's eyebrow twitched, clearly not amused.

Kalego: You barely passed.

Me: Barely? That's a little harsh, don't you think? I mean, I didn't die, so that's gotta count for something.

Kalego: There are suspicions about you. Your behavior doesn't match any demon's, and your results were... inconsistent.

Oh, inconsistent, huh?

Maybe because I'm a human in demon school?

Just a guess.

I groaned internally but tried to keep a straight face. He was staring me down with that intense glare of his, and I could practically feel the suspicion radiating off of him. If I wasn't careful, he'd figure me out.

No pressure.

Me: Alright, fine. Test me. I'll just blow your minds again. I mean, what could go wrong?

Kalego: Glad to hear your confidence is intact. You'll be joining several of the instructors today for a series of tests.

Several instructors?!

Oh, great.

It's an ambush.

Me: Several, huh? I must've made quite the impression.

Kalego gave me a long, calculating look.

Kalego: You've made an impression, alright. We're going to find out what you're hiding, ....

Me: Hiding? Who, me? Pfft, as if I could hide anything. I'm an open book.

Kalego: A very suspicious book.

I smiled nervously and followed him to the testing grounds, my mind racing. I had to figure out a way to survive this without letting them catch on that I was human. No big deal, right?

Test 1: Dodging Death (Again)

We reached the grounds, and sure enough, a few other instructors were there. Great, more eyes to watch me potentially screw up. They were all gathered in a circle, looking way too eager to see me fail.
