Nami’s POV
Okay, I thought I knew what stress felt like. Y’know, like cramming for a test or dealing with my stepdad. But *this*? Nah, this was next-level shit.
We were standing in the middle of a warzone—broken glass, bullet holes, literal bodies. I couldn’t stop shaking. Hyunjin had just shot Kato, right in front of me. And now, I was supposed to act like I was cool with it?
Spoiler: I was *not* cool with it.
“Holy shit…” I whispered under my breath, trying to process everything. My brain was going a mile a minute, and none of it was making sense.
Hyunjin glanced at me, his expression unreadable. He looked calm, like he hadn’t just murdered someone, but there was this intensity in his eyes that made me feel like he was two seconds away from losing it too.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice low.
“Uh… do I *look* okay?” I shot back, maybe a little too harshly, but honestly, could you blame me? “You just shot a dude, and now we have to, what? *Hide* the body? What kind of Netflix crime show did I just get dragged into?”
Hyunjin’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t snap back. Which was surprising because I could tell he wasn’t in the mood for my sarcasm. Not that it stopped me.
“We’ll figure it out,” he said, his voice cool and steady. “I’ve handled worse.”
“Oh, good,” I muttered, rolling my eyes. “Glad we’re in such capable hands.”
I was losing it, seriously. I had to sit down, my legs felt like they were about to give out. So, I found a spot near the wrecked coffee table, and plopped down, hugging my knees to my chest. I needed, like, three hours of uninterrupted peace, maybe a snack, and a therapist.
---
After a few minutes, I caught a glimpse of Lara Kato, the supposed daughter of the dead dude on the floor, just... chilling. Like, I swear to God, she looked bored. While the rest of us were borderline freaking out, she was tapping away on her phone, like she was waiting for an Uber.
“You good?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at her. “Your dad just got... y’know, *murdered*.”
Lara glanced at me, shrugged, and then went back to her phone. “Yeah, whatever. I didn’t like him anyway.”
I blinked, not sure if I heard her right. “Wait, what?”
“My dad,” she repeated, looking up from her phone this time. “He was an asshole. I don’t care that he’s dead. Honestly, it saves me a whole lot of trouble.”
Okay, I wasn’t expecting *that*.
“Wow. Uh, alright then,” I said, still trying to wrap my head around how calm she was. “So, what’s your plan now?”
She sighed, putting her phone away. “I’ve got my own place. My mom’s been gone for a while, and my dad was never around unless it was to yell or hit someone. So yeah, I’m set. I’ve got money, an apartment, I’ll be fine.”
“Damn,” I muttered, feeling kind of bad for her, but also impressed. I wasn’t sure what I would’ve done in her shoes, but it probably wouldn’t have been as chill as she was acting.
Hyunjin walked back over, looking more serious than before. “We need to clean this up fast. If anyone finds out what happened here, we’re screwed.”
I gave him a flat look. “Yeah, no shit.”
“Jeongin’s already working on erasing the security footage,” Hyunjin continued, ignoring my sarcasm. “We’ll dump the bodies, and make it look like Kato skipped town.”
“Like he just... vanished?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. “You think people are gonna buy that?”
“They will if we make it convincing enough,” he said, his eyes hardening. “I’m going to take over his company. Once I do, no one will question anything. He’ll be seen as a corrupt businessman who fled the country.”
I blinked. “You’re going to just... take over his company?”
Hyunjin nodded like it was no big deal. “He’s dead. There’s no one to stop me. Lara doesn’t care about it, and Kato’s associates will fall in line once they realize who’s in charge.”
I glanced at Lara, who was still looking completely unbothered. She just shrugged when she noticed me staring.
“Honestly,” she said, “I don’t give a fuck about the company. Hyunjin can have it. I want no part of it.”
This was wild. Like, this was the kind of shit you only see in movies, and here I was, living it. I should’ve been more freaked out, but honestly? After everything I’d been through in the last week, I was just... tired. Emotionally and physically drained.
---
“Alright, so what’s my part in this?” I asked, leaning back against the wall. “You guys gonna lock me up somewhere while you play Monopoly with Kato’s company?”
Hyunjin shot me a look, his expression unreadable again. “You’re staying here, for now. At least until we can make sure there’s no heat coming your way.”
“Great,” I muttered. “More ‘room service.’”
Hyunjin ignored me and went back to giving orders to his team. Everyone was moving fast, working together to erase any trace of what had happened. Bodies were dragged out, bullet holes patched up—it was honestly kind of impressive how efficient they were.
“Seriously, though,” I said, mostly to myself. “This is some *fucked up* shit.”
---
By the time the dust settled, it felt like hours had passed. Lara had disappeared, probably back to her apartment to live her best unbothered life, while I was still stuck in this mess. I watched as Hyunjin stood at the center of it all, orchestrating the cleanup like it was just another day at the office.
And, as much as I hated to admit it, there was something about the way he carried himself that I couldn’t stop thinking about. Cold, yes. But also calculated, in control, like nothing phased him. It was almost... intimidating.
Not that I’d ever tell him that, though. He had enough of an ego as it was.
With Kato gone, Hyunjin was going to take over everything, and somehow, I had a front-row seat to the whole thing. It wasn’t like I had a choice, but still, part of me wanted to see how this all played out.....
How do y'all like it?
