Li Enyi returned to his residence. He always referred to it as a residence rather than a home. In his mind, a home required people to wait for you, and in this house, there was only him.
He made a phone call to Old Li to report that Shen Qiuhua had fully recovered. He wasn't lying-he really did visit her today, as per his grandfather's request, to check on her health. It seemed like his grandfather and Shen Qiuhua had formed an unusual bond despite their infrequent meetings. His grandfather could always tell how Shen Qiuhua was doing just by looking at her handwriting, proving that one's writing indeed reflected the person.
After hanging up the phone, the room fell into a dead silence. Li Enyi's finger hovered over the sound system switch but didn't turn it on.
His grandfather was like an enlightened sage, long since abandoning any desire for competition. When Li Enyi was younger, Old Li had not yet cultivated such a temperament and had been extremely strict in his upbringing, teaching him what it meant to possess the commanding presence of a ruler.
"To be a king, you must learn to endure solitude," Old Li had told him two decades ago.
Li Enyi was ambitious. His dream was to build his own business empire. When he first took over Yuanshan Group, it was still obscure, but within a few short years, he had turned it into a flourishing business, which greatly encouraged him.
Shen Qiuhua had initially left him a lasting impression. However, beautiful women were never in short supply for him. Even though she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, what truly made him determined to win her over was his grandfather's comment, "She has the talent to assist a king." The only person such talent could assist was a king, and he believed in his grandfather's words. He was determined to secure Shen Qiuhua's assistance.
"We will meet again."
Shen Qiuhua, after another photo shoot with Sister Wheat, temporarily ended their cooperation. The reason? The remaining clothes were so revealing that she couldn't bring herself to wear them. Sister Wheat had realized Shen Qiuhua's conservative nature after working with her several times, so she didn't push her. The previous photo shoots had already attracted a large number of customers to her business.
Sister Wheat paid her 20,000 yuan as compensation for the collaboration, and they agreed to work together again if new clothes arrived.
Yang Qiong finally put her plan to buy a car into action. She purchased a Volkswagen Magotan. Shen Qiuhua didn't know much about cars, and to her, it looked no different from other vehicles. Since she couldn't drive anyway, as long as Yang Qiong was happy, she was satisfied.
"This car's backseat is spacious and comfortable, but I'd prefer if you sat next to me," Yang Qiong explained as they picked up the car.
Shen Qiuhua smiled and sat in the passenger seat, having learned how to buckle her seatbelt. Seeing her excitement, Yang Qiong was moved. With a house, a car, and a wife, Yang Qiong felt like she had achieved it all.
"No more squeezing onto crowded buses for the commute," Yang Qiong added. She didn't mind it for herself, but she was always worried about her delicate Qiuhua being jostled or touched by someone. In the past, every time they rode the bus together, she would hold Shen Qiuhua protectively in her arms.
"I don't mind either way, but at least you won't have to go through the trouble of protecting me anymore," Shen Qiuhua said, appreciating her concern.
Life with a car was undoubtedly more comfortable, so that weekend, Yang Qiong drove Shen Qiuhua to the mountains to relax- the fresh air made them feel rejuvenated.
"The air here is amazing," Shen Qiuhua said, sitting on a blanket laid out on the grass, while Yang Qiong busily sliced fruits nearby.
Yang Qiong may not have had a talent for cooking, but her knife skills were excellent. She sliced the fruits quickly and beautifully. In no time, she passed the neatly cut fruit pieces in a container to Shen Qiuhua. Shen Qiuhua picked up a piece with a toothpick and fed it to Yang Qiong, who took a bite-not just of the fruit but also of Shen Qiuhua's finger.
