Chapter 3: The Silver Bracelet.
The next thing in the pink box was a shiny little silver bracelet. It was the bracelet I had given Summer on her seventeenth birthday.
It was a really special bracelet not because I had given it but it was the first time I had kissed her. It was the memory which reminded me of our first ever kiss. It had been one of those chilly November nights and we were in our regular hide out.
It was Summer’s favorite place to hang out, a sort of tree house which we had built in her backyard. It had all that we needed a couch, a door and even a window. There was a table in the middle with two chairs were I and Summer use to sit for hours and talk about absolutely random stuff.
There was a space outside the tree house where one could stand and view the sun go down, just like a courtyard. We would sit there for hours.
On her seventeenth birthday we had decided to celebrate it all alone without friends or family. Her dad thought that she was with her friends but he did not know that she was with me. If he had known at that time he would have cut me to pieces.
I had got her a small cupcake as she insisted that I do not spend too much money and for the obvious reasons that I could not bake.
“Ethan, what was the need to bring me a present? I told you not to. Do you listen to me? Never,” Summer said pouting and putting her hands on her hips in way that I found cute. She looked like a little kid complaining to her mommy.
I picked myself up from the couch where I had been sitting for the night.
I walked up to her and held her hand and slid the silver bracelet in her hand. It had small little stars that shone in the dark night. Summer gasped and adored it with shinny eyes.
“You like it?” I asked softly whispering in her hairs.
She just nodded and smiled sweetly at me, her eyes full of compassion. She suddenly looked away in the dark.
I held her chin up so she could look at me.
She just closed her eyes and pursed her lips.
That was my cue to kiss her.
She trusted me enough to let me kiss her.
But I had to make sure.
So I said the most stupid thing ever.
“Umm…Can I kiss you?” I said in a quivering voice.
Summers’ eyes snapped open and there was a glow in her eyes that told me she found it too funny
“What are you Ethan? Like fifteen? Can I kiss you?” she laughed a little. And that made me at ease.
“Yeah you can,” she said still laughing and shaking her head at me.
“I just wanted to be polite,” I said and with that I bent down and brushed my lips against hers.
It started out slow and I let her take control, suddenly she deepened the kiss and her hands moved through my hairs tangling it. Her nails dug through my hairs and I could feel the electricity.
My head was getting dizzy due to lack of oxygen because at last we too were human. And as much as I wanted the kiss to last longer we pulled back to catch our breaths.
Our foreheads were almost touching and our breaths were fast and heavy. I cupped her face in my hands and kissed her forehead passionately, my hands making its way to her waist, she encircled her hands around my neck and we both looked into each other’s eyes.
Words were unnecessary.
Her eyes did the talking and I heard to them with the most undivided attention.
I bent low; my lips brushing past her hairs making her shiver, my breath fanning her neck.
“Happy seventeenth birthday Summer,” I whispered.
“Thank you so much Ethan,” she whispered back kissing my cheek.
I touched the silver bracelet one more time, letting its cool metal brush my skin. It was so familiar to Summer, her calm minded nature with her patience, which at times surprised me.
I could never a kiss any girl like this in my entire life.
She was the only one.
