Jaeyun and Beomgyu sat on the bench as Coach Choi instructed the play, the Captain tying his laces and also attempting to talk to his friend. "How's your ankle?"

Beomgyu turned his head. "It's fine like I've been saying for the last week," Beomgyu rolled his eyes, making Jaeyun chuckle. "You didn't have to be extreme to her and to that dude."

"You've told me that every time I've asked. I told you, I'm indicting justice," Jaeyun explained. "It's not right for her to do that to you."

"I don't believe she purposely wanted it to be me," Beomgyu bit his cheek, shaking his head. "I think it was supposed to be for you, and if you were in my place, would you have been just as extreme?"

Beomgyu batted his eyelashes at him. "Yes," Jaeyun lied, blinking. The center back doubted that and huffed. "I mean it. If you let a girl's ego get too high, then she's going to think she's better than everyone. I had to make sure that she knew not to hurt anyone else."

"You don't think that your ego needs to get crushed, Jaeyun?" Beomgyu asked, causing the boy to start leaving. As he walked, Beomgyu continued. "I mean it, Sim. You are not on top of the world either. We are humans. We are no better than the scum on the ground. You don't even know what they did to her. You told them just to get the job done, so what if they went even further than you intended? Fighting violence with violence is not justice–"

"It's justice to me, okay? So what?" Jaeyun interrupted. When he heard the nickname, his heart nearly fell out of his chest. "Why aren't you thankful that I avenged you?"

"You only avenged yourself," Beomgyu replied, causing Jaeyun to swallow. "I never asked you to get revenge. I never asked you to hurt others to avenge me. It's not like I can't walk anymore. The doctor said I could get back to playing soccer next week if I rested. Do you even know how she's doing? What she's doing?"

Beomgyu narrowed his eyes. "Do you not care at all, Jaeyun, about how she perceives you and how far you've taken it?"

Jaeyun couldn't answer. He did care. He cared enough to ask Natty to make sure she got inside safe. He cared enough to swoop her out of the crowd that he was sure would've thought they were dating so that she wouldn't be taken advantage of.
