"You... What?" Travis let go of Taylor as this new information swirled around his brain.
"I have cancer. I'm sorry I didn't tell to sooner, I just didn't want you to leave and I didn't want to hurt you and I'm so sorry if you want you can go i don't want to burden you I'm sorry I'm sorry-" Taylor's rant was cut short by Travis pulling her into his arms.
"Hey, it's okay, I'm here with you. We're in this together" he pressed a kiss to her head, thoughts still swirling around his head. She was sick? And he didn't notice? How bad of a boyfriend must be be?

"I'm always with you okay? No matter what's going on, I'll always be here" he held her close, feeling tears prick at the back of his eyes.
"You know you can tell me anything, right?" He asked, his voice cracking. Taylor just nodded, her head buried in his chest. They stood like that in silence for a couple of minutes, before Travis pulled away.
"How many people know?" He whispered, looking down at Taylor.
"Just you and Jack" Taylor replied, her eyes watery.
"Okay" Travis whispered, pulling Taylor into his chest once again.

Travis joined Taylor at her next chemo session, and as she sat curled up in the chair in front of him, her eyes closed and headphones on, he thought about everything. About why she didn't tell him before, about how to tell people, about what he'd do if it didn't all turn out well. He didn't want to think to much about the last part, it would all go well. Taylor would get better and she'd be fine. She'd be fine.

They left that appointment in silence, and once they were settled in the car Travis decided to just come out with what he was thinking.
"When are you telling people?" He asked, putting the keys in the ignition.
"Soon, I think. I'll probably call my parents and tell them soon, they deserve to know" she was staring at her lap, fiddling with the hem of her hoodie.
"Tay? Talk to me" Travis urged, briefly peeling his eyes away from the road to look across at his girlfriend.
"I don't want to put my family through this again. I don't want to be a burden" Taylor's voice cracked as her gaze lifted up to look out the window, watching the streets of the city roll by.
"You could never be a burden. You deserve their love and support through it all, and you will have it" Travis reached over and gave her thigh a squeeze. Taylor looked up at him and smiled softly.

A week later and both their families had been notified. The phone calls had ended in tears, but both said they would always be there for them both. Taylor was getting weaker as the chemo took over her body, and it wasn't unusual for the pair to spend the whole day in bed.

Taylor had been on chemo for three months when Andrea and Scott finally had time to visit. Taylor rushed around the house, much to Travis's dislike, trying to sort everything out before they arrived the next hour.

"Baby, it's all fine, I promise. Now rest, I can tell you're already exhausted" Travis chased after his girlfriend, grabbing her by the arm.
"Ugh, fine" Taylor sighed, allowing herself to be led to the sofa. Travis sat her down then switched on the tv, making sure she was all comfy before heading back into the kitchen.

Taylor exhaled, leaning back into the sofa. In all honesty, she was exhausted. Everything happening had been taking a humongous toll on her body, and as she closed her eyes she could feel herself relax.

Suddenly her phone beeped, a message from her mum. 'Five minutes out' it read, so Taylor leapt up from the sofa. She grabbed a brush, running it through her curly hair and slipped on a hoodie. One thing that Taylor was so happy about was that her hair was still there. Still going strong, no signs of falling out yet. And she couldn't be happier about that.

Just then the doorbell rang and Taylor went to answer it.
"Mom!" She cried, throwing her arms around her mom's neck. Andrea hugged her daughter back, tears pricking at her eyes as she sensed the difference in her. Firstly, she was skinnier, more fragile. She was also weaker and less energetic, Andrea could tell by the way she moved. Her voice was less bright too, and her face was pale, her eyes grey.

They all sat down at the kitchen table, the food laid out before them. Chatter ensued as all the food on the table was soon gone. Taylor and Travis and Andrea and Scott later retired to their separate rooms, ready for bed.

Taylor had another session the next day, and this was an important one because the doctors would be able to see if Taylor was ready for the surgery.

"How are you feeling baby?" Travis asked taylor as he say next to her on the bed. Taylor just groaned into the pillow, causing Travis to smile slightly.
"Aw I'm sorry, how about I help you get ready for bed then you can go to sleep?" He stroked her hair gently. Taylor just sat up, not saying anything. She looked at Travis with wide eyes before lifting her arms, prompting him to start getting her undressed.

Ten minutes later and Taylor was fast asleep in bed, Travis sitting up next to her. As he stroked her hair he admired her beauty, admired how amazing and nice she was even when sick. Oh, he was so in love.

"Taylor, hi!" The doctor entered the room, greeting Taylor who sat on the examination table.
"So, I've got amazing news! I've looked over your scans, and it seems that you are ready for surgery. What they will do is it will speed up the process and give you more chance of getting rid of the cancer all together. After the surgery you will still have to continue with chemo therapy, however it will be less intense and have a higher chance of working better" the doctor smiled at her.
Travis grinned down at Taylor, before looking back up at the doctor.
"When will she have it?" He asked.
"Hopefully very soon, maybe two days time if we have space? You see, if we leave it too long there is a chance the tumour will not be able to be operated on." Came the reply.

It was arranged for the surgery to take place the day after next. They arrived at the hospital bright and early after saying goodbye to Taylor's parents who were still staying with them. Taylor was soon prepped for surgery and the pair had to say their goodbyes.
"Bye bye baby, you will do great, I love you so much" Travis pressed his lips to Taylor's temple.
"I love you too" taylor smiled up at him before being wheeled out.

Travis paved around the waiting room anxiously. He knew that the odds were in Taylor's favour and she would most likely be okay, but there was still a chance. He was still scared. He glanced down at his watch. Two hours since she had gone in. Two hours since he had said his goodbyes. What could have been the last ones ever... He shook his head, trying to rid those thoughts from his brain. She would be okay. She would be fine.

Suddenly the door burst open and someone rushed in. Travis looked up in alarm, his stomach dropping when he was met with Scott, who's eyes were red and cheeks tear streaked.
"What? What is it?" He asked frantically, his heart hammering in his ears.
"She's dead. She's gone. She had a heart attack and didn't make it" Scott sobbed.

"Andreas dead"
