Jumping awake in a random place is scary, jumping awake in a place when your side is extremely painful and there are dead people running around, is terrifying. I wake up breathing heavily as I quickly grab my side. I look down and see a bandage wrapped around my entire stomach and I'm only in a sports bra. The room I'm in is very old, it looks like I'm at an old farm house. I slowly sit up using the wall to help me and I look outside of the window. I see a couple of cars, some tents and a few people standing around.

"Zach." I whisper to myself when I realize I don't see him. I head towards the door and jump back wincing as it opens. An old white man with white hair enters the room.

"Oh you're awake." He smiles, his southern accent is thick. I hold my side as I sit back onto the bed.

"Who are you? Where's my brother?" I demand already out of breath.

"He's okay." The old man smiles. "I'm Hershel and you're on my farm. You were shot by one of my people and they brought you back here along with your brother and that boy, Dean." He smiles. "Can I check your bandage?"

"I wanna see my brother first." I look at him and he nods. Just then Zach sprints into the room. I sigh with relief, standing up hugging him as I tight as I can, ignoring the pain.

"Sami, it's okay!" He smiles as he hugs me back. "I'm so happy you're okay." He sighs and helps me sit back down.

"Now can I check your wound?" Hershel chuckles and I nod.

"I wasn't sure if you'd ever wake up." Zach sighs and I lean back as Hershel carefully unwraps my bandage.

"It's only been a couple hours." I laugh lightly.

"No it's been almost three days." Hershel looks up at me. "I think a lot of it is because you were exhausted and your body forced you into recovery but it's been almost three days."

"What?!" I sigh. "No way" I look down at my wound as Hershel undresses it and I gag a bit.

"Luckily the arrow didn't go super far in, you'll be sore for a little bit but the stitches should fall out on their own in a couple of days. In the meantime you need to take it easy, okay?" He looks at me and I nod.

"After that my brother and I can be on our way." I put my shirt back on once Hershel redresses my wound.

"Wait Sami why would we leave? We are finally in a safe place." Zach sighs.

"This isn't our home. We can't just invite ourselves to stay, Zach." I sigh.

"No but this is my home and I can invite you guys to stay." Hershel smiles. "You're more than welcome here. Plus, I think my youngest daughter has taken a liking to Zach over here." I look over at Zach who is now bright red.

"Thank you, Hershel." I smile. "We can pull our weight around here. Can Dean stay too?"

"Of course." He smiles. "He's already been a big help, he's helped dale with his RV and he's helped me rebuild a generator. If you tried taking him I'd stop you." Hershel chuckles as he stands up. "If you're feeling up to it, dinner will be ready in a couple of minutes. I know everyone is excited to meet you." He smiles at me before leaving the room.

"Come on I'll help you downstairs." Zach smiles holding his arm out to me.

"So who's this girl?" I tease as he helps me down the steps. I can't believe I was shot and that I was out for almost three days, it sure didn't feel like it. I've never felt this weak in my entire life.

"I'll tell you later." Zach chuckles and leads me into a dining room where I see a large table full of people. The whole room goes silent as Zach and I enter the room.
