New Features in iPhone 16 and Accessories
With less than 24 hours until Apple's special event, rumors are buzzing about what's in store for the iPhone 16 and other products. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to boast several new camera features, including 4K video recording at 120 frames per second, ProRes 4K video recording with external storage, and support for the JPEG-XL format. Additionally, users can look forward to QuickTake 4K recording, a wind noise reduction feature for videos, and the ability to pause and resume video recordings in the Camera app. Notably, one of the new and accessories is the Capture button, which will be compatible with both Apple's Camera app and third-party camera apps.
Rumors also suggest that iPhone 16 cases will come in six colors: Black, Blue, Dark Purple, Green, Light Gray, and Taupe. These cases will reportedly be made from new materials, replacing the controversial FineWoven cases from the iPhone 15 lineup. Apple is expected to integrate a unique design for the cases to accommodate the new Capture button rather than using a simple cutout.
Apple Watch Series 10 and Software Updates
Details about the Apple Watch Series 10 have also emerged, hinting at significant upgrades. The new smartwatch will feature larger screens and an updated ECG/heart rate sensor for more accurate readings. An upgrade in water resistance is also anticipated. Additionally, new watch faces are expected, including one called "Reflections," which will dynamically adjust to ambient light.
One of the standout features rumored for the Apple Watch Series 10 is sleep apnea detection, though it may not be available at launch and could be introduced through a later software update. Another planned feature, hypertension detection, has reportedly been delayed.
Apple will also announce the release dates for its next major software updates, including iOS 18, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, iPadOS 18, and visionOS 2. Notably, macOS Sequoia is expected to launch earlier than usual this year, with a release date set for mid-September. This marks a shift from previous macOS updates, which typically occurred in October or November.
What's Missing and What's Next
While Apple enthusiasts may be eagerly awaiting updates to iPads, Macs, or AirPods Max, these products won't be featured at tomorrow's event. According to Bloomberg, that will include updates to the Mac mini, iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad mini, and more.
The anticipated update to AirPods Max, which will include USB-C charging and new color options, is expected to arrive later this year, although the exact timing remains unclear. However, fans of AirPods can expect a new generation of AirPods 4 to be announced at the upcoming event.
As anticipation builds, Apple's upcoming event is expected to highlight new features in iPhone 16 and accessories, setting the stage for an exciting season of product launches and software upgrades.
