*CASSIDYS POV*

September 3rd, 2010

You all know the saying 'new year, new me.'

That saying is what i will be living by for this next school year.

"Cassidy! What are you doing?!"

Those words snapped me out of my trance. My best friend Melanie Sanders stood in front of me. Her long dirty blonde hair flowing down her back. Her green eyes pierced into my blue ones as she awaited my response.

"You've been spinning your lock around for the past 5 minutes. Do you forget your combination or something?" She asked readjusting her pink backpack on her shoulders.

"Oh. No sorry. I didn't even realize what i was doing. I've been a bit out of it ever since i've gotten home."

Its true. Ever since I've gotten home from my aunt and uncles in Venice Beach I've been completely out of it. It was all because of the boy I had met with the hazel eyes and the gorgeous hair who went by the name of Justin Bieber.

"Cassidy! Are you even listening to anything I'm saying?" Mel asked.

"Im so sorry! I'm just tired. Lunch today?"

"Fine. But you better be back to normal by lunch today. I have a lot to tell you!" she said as she slowly backed away down the hallway.

I shut my locker door and turned the opposite direction down the hall towards my first period class.

It was a new year. New grade. New teachers. New people.

I pushed open the brown classroom door to be greeted by my new teacher and 8 other students who had already found a seat and were now chatting amongst themselves.

I dragged my feet incased in black high top converse towards the back of the room, avoiding all eye contact from everyone I was passing.

I slid down in a seat in the back corner of the classroom pulling my purple backpack onto my lap to remove my notebook and pencil case from it.

The morning announcements played and my teacher started to talk about how excited she was for this upcoming year.

At least one person was excited.

I heard my phone vibrate in the front pocket of my backpack and slowly leaned down to get it, trying to not draw attention to myself.

I clicked the on button on my white iPhone 4s and was met with a message that I never thought I would see that made my stomach drop.
