Before we start, I'm basing my sorting of the characters off of which house's qualities are most central to who they are. (I'm taking the listed qualities from the wiki, which might be lazy but I think it works).

Gryffindor qualities: courage, daring, nerve, and chivalry

Hufflepuff qualities: hard work, patience, loyalty, and fairness/fair play

Ravenclaw qualities: intelligence, knowledge, curiosity, creativity, and wit

Slytherin qualities: ambition, leadership, self-preservation, cunning, and resourcefulness

Characters may not have all the qualities of a specific house or may have some from multiple houses, but the ones that I think are either the most prominent in their character or the one they value the most personally will ultimately determine their house placement.

Now that that's out of the way, let us begin.

Conor: Hufflepuff

Conor, for me, checks off all the boxes when it comes to Hufflepuff. He's undoubtedly a hard worker, whether it be with his family's flocks, as a servant to Devin Trunswick, or a Greencloak. He's patient, not rushing through things, making sure he does things right, which also falls under hard working. He values fairness and is understanding, welcoming Abeke when Rollan and Meilin didn't, and getting frustrated in Rise and Fall by the attitude of Abeke's father about Abeke. Lastly, Conor is certainly loyal, devoting himself to helping his family both as Devin's servant and when he gave up the Iron Boar to save his loved ones, and the Greencloaks, as he dedicates himself to the Greencloaks, being the first of the four to take the vows, and continuing to work tirelessly for the Greencloaks even after the main series. He's also a loyal friend too.

Abeke: Gryffindor

Abeke has shown a great deal of courage, daring, and nerve both through her defiance of sexist gender norms and her heroism in the conflicts throughout the series. Her kind hearted nature and sense of justice also check off the box for chivalry. Honestly, I'm not sure I really have to provide many examples in Abeke's case, and there are really too many to choose.

Meilin: Ravenclaw

This might surprise some of you, who probably expected Gryffindor for Meilin, but upon closer inspection, I think she actually fits the bill of Ravenclaw. She's certainly intelligent and knowledgeable, having been able to learn several complex forms of martial arts as well as various other disciplines outside combat. She is creative in both how she fights and in strategy, such as in the later fall of the beasts series when she has to distract people with a scarf dancing routine. She also certainly has wit, matching Rollan for every quip.

Rollan: Hufflepuff

Rollan was tricky. I initially put him in Slytherin, as he embodies resourcefulness, but when I think more about it, he ultimately feels more like a Hufflepuff. He works hard to stay alive as a street orphan, and later to help the others in the quests of the series. He's patient when it comes to Essix, realizing she can't be forced to get closer to him, and ultimately letting her come to him, which pays off by the end. Despite his initial distrust, he has a strong sense of loyalty, trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to help get medicine for a friend on the street, and proving himself ultimately as amongst the most loyal of the main characters, culminating in his joining the Greencloaks, and taking it upon himself to embody the best of the order and honor the legacy of Tarik. He also has a sense of fair play, never stealing from other street kids even when desperate.

Sancha: Hufflepuff

Sancha devotes herself to everything she does, whether it be looking out for her family, helping the Greencloaks, working with those with the Bonding Sickness, or supporting those she cares for. She is patient, as shown for example when she trusts Olvan to make everything about their mission clear when the time is right, and through her work with natural bonds, as she understands it takes time to make progress and takes that truth in stride. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, even going against her own family when they conflict with what she feels is right. And even when she does fight against her homeland, she never loses sight of what matters, refusing to see her home as an enemy that needs to be destroyed.
