Varian and his musings whilst holding the hottest unconscious guy known to man <3333 (Yes I have a crush on Hugo if that wasn't already clear!)

Hugo had to be the only person Varian found better unconscious. Without his annoying quips, arrogance and yes, his consciousness, Varian found Hugo to be quite cooperative.
Slinging one of the thief's arms around him and hooking one arm around the boy's waist, Varian managed to shuffle along with Hugo. The boy was much taller than him so Varian struggled to keep him standing upwards.
The thugs who resided there saw this and found it a little suspicious. Why were Hugo's eyes closed? Why was this hooded figure dragging him around?
The gossips whispered about it in the streets, glancing at Varian every now and then, their eyes narrowed in confusion at the spectacle before them.
Eventually, a middle-aged woman with a baby around her hip came up to him. Varian turned to her with a barely audible sigh. In the deepest voice he could muster, he asked "What is it you want?"
The woman smiled shyly at him and asked what had happened to Hugo. The alchemist gave a low chuckle. "I know this may come as a shock to you, but the big boss' son is a lightweight drinker!"
The thugs who were eavesdropping laughed. Who knew such a powerful person would have such a bad alcohol intolerance! Most of the thugs got back to work, not giving the apparently solved mystery.
Although some of the thugs continued to give Varian disbelieving looks. Despite this, Varian wasn't scared as he knew they wouldn't try to cross someone they thought to be the "big boss'" son's friend.
But that was just it! Who was the big boss? Why did they scare everyone? Was Hugo really their son? These questions whirled around Varian's head as he walked through the thugs' district, Hugo's head lolling against his all the while.
Soon, Varian reached the outskirts and was relieved to find the marketplace full of people. It meant he would be harder to see and therefore less likely to be questioned by curious passersby. But it also meant that moving around with Hugo was harder, with the crush of the crowd pushing against him, as he desperately looked around.
And not only for a place to keep Hugo but also, for a possibility of finding Ruddiger, for the raccoon still hadn't returned to him. But everywhere he looked, he found nothing to help him in both the cases he was working on.
He sighed. He knew finding Ruddiger was a lost cause. Plus it wasn't what he should be focusing on in the current situation.
Because while, yes, Ruddiger meant the world to Varian, right now, the alchemist had a fully grown criminal who could wake up at any minute in his custody.
So finding Ruddiger would have to wait until later. But finding a private in central Corona proved to be perhaps an ever more difficult task.
Nowhere in central Corona was private. There was always some person in some place. It maddened the alchemist.
Back in Old Corona, he'd had a lot of privacy. He could talk to himself and not get weird looks. He could get an idea and scribble something in a notebook and not be noticed. He could try to find a place to hide an unconscious teenager and look for his raccoon and succeed on both accounts.
But in central Corona, that was all merely a dream. Look to the left, there were people. Look to the right there were people. Walk into an old tavern and there were people. He knew it was hopeless to continue searching here.
So he slipped into the shadows - or at least did his best whilst holding onto an unconscious 5' 11" - and went to the woodsy side of Corona.
And finally he could breathe. Because while Corona was a beautiful place, and allowed him to have more opportunities, it also made him miss the quiet of Old Corona. And his dad. He hadn't talked to him in a long time.
He took a look at Hugo whose mouth was slightly open and sighed. It wasn't like he could write a letter now.
Eventually, Varian found the Snuggly Duckling. He'd obviously been there before when he needed to think in solitude, but this was different.
Normally when Varian was going in the Snuggly Duckling, Varian was annoyed at either a person or a problem
This time, Varian going in there made him feel strangely confident.
Everyone in the pub was a thug of some sort. So, lugging around an unconscious blonde probably wasn't the sort of thing to get judged for.
Varian walked in, now practically dragging Hugo along with him, to the wide eyed stares of the thugs.
"Who's the hooded guy? Is he a guard? Ooh! I hope not hehe!" Shorty said, sounding as drunk as ever as he pretended to whisper when he clearly wasn't.
Varian gave him a look and took off the hood. Shorty gave a dramatic gasp and fell backwards off his chair. "It's Varian! ...With a pretty lady? Who would've known?"
Varian rolled his eyes and shuffled past Shorty, knowing very well of the antics of Shorty and not to care too much about whatever nonsense the guy said.
So he merely went up to Hook Foot, who was sitting in a chair that seemed to face the corner, and pointed at the thief in his arms. Hook Foot nodded in understanding and showed Varian to a room down the back.
Varian thanked the footless thug and laid Hugo down in one of the chairs there. Varian sat in the one opposite and waited for Hugo to regain consciousness.
