"Yashmitha Srinivas! Return home at this very instance! Am I clear. I don't care, book another flight, drive here, take a train or in the worst case walk back home. You can't keep avoiding the anniversaries like this." Yelled Nandana.
What a day!
Honestly, I never felt this stressed.
Nandana wouldn't stop screaming at me. Not that she is wrong but who enjoys being yelled at.
If it was anyone else, I would cut the call on their face, but with her in the picture I stand no chance. Nandana was my first friend and a very dear one, hence this freedom of yelling at me or talking to me in this tone. If she never walked into my life, I would still be a loner. With her today I have a few people who are holding my back.Nandana, Abhi, Jai and Tanmayi are a blessing to me. If not them I would be as good as a wandering soul.
5 years ago I was a graduate in Vizag, absolutely alone and clueless. As if a fairy from Disney tales Nandana and Jai walked in. God knows how but Nandana and Jai tracked me down in Vizag and supported me as I gathered my broken heart pieces. They urged me to return back to my hometown Shimla. I finally mustered courage and returned to Shimla just for them.
Shimla, the place filled with tons of memories. My special place. Shimla was my parents hometown. They were born here, grew up and fell in love in this chilled place. They created a very warm and beautiful world here, which lost its charm once they left. My mom and dad passed away in a plane crash when I was pretty young, ever since, my aunt, Lahari brought me up.
FYI: My Aunt doesn't believe in human emotions; she is emotionally guarded round the clock. therefore, she had appointed a nanny, Geethika Ramprasad. Geetu is Nandana's mother.
Me and my aunt practically had no emotional attachments. She was my legal guardian; I was her responsibility. Truth be spoken I'm not sure if she was ok to take up my responsibility or she was forced to look after me. However, she kept an eye on me. She knew almost everything I did. My aunt is an exceptional businesswoman, who is absolutely gorgeous, yet single.
P.S. I might have received a bit of business acumen from her.
Handling business, expanding it feels easy right now. I mean I went through so much to re-establish my parents resorts, over the years I managed to expand my venture and have a chain of resorts, restaurants and hotels. But all of that feels easier than trying to argue and explain myself to Nandana.
Well, I really can't blame her for being mad at me because yet again I made a spontaneous decision to be somewhere I was not supposed to. I booked tickets to Hyderabad at 9:30pm. I was strictly told not to attend the wedding, but I booked my tickets to attend the wedding of an old acquaintance.ya I hate to admit but, even after 5 years I finally meet someone from my college.
My college friend Shreya reached out to me through my hotel insta page and texted me about her wedding. Though I declined, something made me change my mind. It's pretty rare that I make decisions spontaneously, surprising Nandu and angering her because I'll be missing the hotel anniversary celebrations.
Well, I find reasons to skip the anniversary celebrations every year, but this time I just ran away from Shimla. I generally claim to fall ill, attend a meeting, wander off to a few selective places in Shimla.
Nandu needs to accept the fact I can't attend the celebrations ever. I can't do it. I'm tired of reasoning with her. Therefore I chose to get out of Shimla.______________—--------------------------______________________—-----------------
Once I reached my hotel in Hyderabad I dialed Shreya, who answered my call really quick, "please tell me you changed your mind and you will be attending all my wedding functions." she said in a very pleading tone, making me smile, "Consider it done cause, I'm already in Hyderabad. At a hotel. I'll be seeing you in the morning at any restaurant of your choice." I said, making her excited. Her exclamation and excitement made me feel happy. She sent me a location of a restaurant she wants to go to but has no company to do so and we both agreed to meet there for coffee. I freshened up and sent Nandu a voice note, "I reached our hotel branch in Hyderabad, I know you can efficiently handle the celebrations and activities there in my absence. I'm yet to meet my friend so, I'll let you know more details about my stay Tmrw evening." After clicking on the sent button I went to sleep.
