Madison regrets ever going out with Lindsay. The mess in her kitchen is catastrophic because she had to cook yesterday when she came back from the club and of course, as the law of means goes, she had nothing she could snack on. Her clothes were all thrown around the living room, and she bet that one sock was missing. This shit happened every time.
Yet, she would go out with Lindsay time and time after that.
Her phone buzzes, and Mads spends a good minute wondering around trying to locate the sound, or more like the memory of it. Finally, she spots it under the cushion of the couch, and sighs with relief. At least she didn't lose that.
There aren't that many notifications on the screen: a message from her mom asking her what time she'll come over, a snap from her brother that stayed in the States over the summer, and a voice memo from Lindsay, which is the latest. Mads rolls her eyes - it's like three minutes long and she's sure that more than half of it is just her friend's hangover (or even still drunk) gibberish.
She is kinda right, for the most part.
Lindsay goes on about the yesterday's party, how she couldn't believe that Madison actually had the balls to speak to Lando Norris (!!!), the hottest man in Monaco, and that Julie is such a pussy for running her mouth on a guy when he didn't do anything. Mads was still not convinced that Julie flat out lied but maybe she just added some details to make the rejection more dramatic - as a lot of girls would do, let's be honest.
Mads gets distracted by the loud sound of the car coming by her windows, and she leaves her phone for a second to come to the balcony to close it. She still catches the back of the car - a blueish ("Or maybe greenish", Mads thinks as she moves the curtain out of the way) Porsche Carrera, which is moving effortlessly through the street. Madison shakes her head - there is too much money all gathered in one place, for her liking.
Everyone turns out to be either rich, or famous, or both. An asshole, in addition.
She comes back to her phone, only to see another notification from Lindsay.
"You're in?" the message reads, and Mads has no clue what the question is about. She scrolls back to the point where she thinks she stopped listening to the voice memo, and that's when her friend starts to go on about a very private, almost exclusive, "impossible to get to" party, which she is invited to. Mads already can feel the taste of alcohol in her mouth again, and she is extremely tempted to say no to being Lindsay's plus one but then the voice mentions that Martin Garrix will be there.
Mads is sold for any dj who ever played at Tomorrowland. It is her dream to visit it one day.
She doesn't even really think before she replies that she's in, and she's not even surprised when she gets a call literally a second later. She presses accept, even though she is inclined to decline, because dealing with hangover Lindsay is a bit annoying.
"Yes bitch, I knew you were my ride or die," the ginger almost screams through the speaker of Mads' phone, and her loud voice is echoing in Madison's head. She closes her eyes for a second before she comes up with a response.
"When have I ever said no to you and close party?" the laugh on the other side and the "true" comment are followed by a cough and some swearing. "Linds, are you okay?" asking Mads, concerned.
"Yeah yeah, just need like a very cold shower or something before we go," answers Lindsay with ease. "So, what do you think? We come on time or we make a late entrance?" she jokes, while snacking on some chips from the sound of it. Mads thinks she also would like some chips, but the state of her kitchen confirms yet again that she doesn't have anything.
