Nick Fury's POV
I watch Sharon walk slowly up the steps to the ship and find a half of the woman she was. Skinny and pale with a darkness in her eyes I've never seen before.
Oh, no.
Tony Stark and Steve Rogers come up several steps behind her.
This isn't going to be good.
"Fury." Sharon nods and I tilt my head to the side as Tony smirks at me as if he knows a secret I don't.
Steve nods at me with a serious face. He looks like he's been through hell with a soft pink around his eyes.
"We know what happened but we need to debrief you before you go back."
"Didn't even have to ask, did I?" Sharon looks at me surprised and I blink at her.
"We are going to help her end this." Steve promises and I let out a breath without moving.
"There are two sides to this," I turn from them and close the doors behind them. "For one," I turn back and look at Sharon who takes a step closer and holds her side. "What you want to do is a good thing and any good done there would make a big difference but the other side of the coin is there are another thousand Major Micahis out there still doing the same things and trying to gain power."
Sharon's shoulders slump a little but then she shakes her head looking at her feet then at me.
"You didn't see what I saw." She says softly, blue eyes darkened with rage and sadness, tears threatening to spill. "You didn't see the large mounds of dead kids being burned." She throws a fist between us as her eyes widen with that rage I've seen before, in her aunt Peggy.
"You didn't smell the smoke or watch little kids become murderers before even hitting puberty!" She shouts now and the unhinged rage behind the depth of her dark blue eyes made something in me break for the young agent. "You didn't see!" She accuses and I nod once as Tony comes up behind her and places a hand on her shoulder.
"Share," Tony says in warning but she shrugs him off with a grunt. "You have to calm down."
"There's a whole generation dying and no one is doing a damn thing about it!" She shouts getting closer and Steve gets closer watching her intently.
"Back down, agent." I bite out and she looks away quickly and then back up with a hard glare.
"We will help all of them." She promises me and I sigh again as Tony pulls her back.
"Share, you gotta breathe." Tony instructs her but Sharon still glares at me and Steve gives me a worried look.
"You weren't there." She accuses with a snarl and I nod again.
"They also have a new type weaponary I have never seen before." Tony says looking over at Steve.
"Tony was blasted and his suit did nothing to protect him against it which tells us that it's a new and stronger tech." Steve clarifies.
"The US and NATO have strict regulations against the use of force in the country because it would be a declaration of war and then you have a David and Goliath rewrite with the same plot." I want them all to understand.
"We can't leave them out there to die!" Sharon almost lunges at me but Tony holds her steady as Steve approaches and Sharon pulls and tugs away from Tony. "They're killing a whole generation for no reason!" She shouts and lunges forward and Steve wraps his arms around her tightly holding her in place.
This isn't the agent that left a month ago on mission. That Sharon is gone and in her place is a strong-willed and impatient woman with deep trauma.
I nod at the agent at the other end of the ship that has been watching closely as she pulls out a syringe and I give her one last nod.
