"There's something moving through the windows and walls
I've seen it before, seen it before
You left me living with a lingering soul
How little you know, how little you know"
Paint - The Paper Kites
Amara sat cross-legged on her bed, her fingers absentmindedly tracing the edge of the quilt as her mind raced. The dim light of the room did little to soothe her nerves, and the weight of everything that had happened with Sam and Dean still hung heavy in the air. Her powers were growing stronger, that much was clear, but the intensity of the emotions she had felt—and how she had influenced them—was more than she had ever anticipated.
She glanced toward the doorway, where Castiel stood, his tall frame almost blending into the shadows. His expression was calm, as always, but there was a flicker of curiosity in his blue eyes as he watched her, sensing her unease.
"Cas," she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper, "can you come in? And... shut the door?"
He hesitated for a moment, then stepped inside, closing the door softly behind him. The quiet click of the latch made Amara's heart race, though not for the same reasons as before. She needed space, needed clarity, and Castiel was the one person who could offer that—someone who wasn't swept up in the same emotional storm she had been navigating with the brothers.
Castiel stood near the foot of her bed, his head tilted slightly as he studied her. "You didn't want Sam or Dean to hear," he observed, his tone neutral but questioning.
Amara nodded, biting her lip. "Yeah... I need to talk to you about something. Something that I'm not sure I understand yet."
Castiel remained silent, waiting for her to continue, his patience infinite.
Amara took a deep breath, her fingers twisting the fabric of the quilt between them. "I think... I think I've been influencing them—Sam and Dean—without meaning to. I mean, my powers... they're growing stronger, right? And I can feel everything so intensely now. But today, I realised they're feeling it too. And I don't think it's just because they're close to me. I think I'm making them feel it."
Castiel's brow furrowed slightly, his eyes narrowing as he considered her words. "You believe your emotions are affecting them... unconsciously?"
"Yeah," Amara murmured. "I wasn't even aware of it at first, but now it's like... I'm emitting everything I feel, and it's influencing them. They don't even know it's happening. And the worst part is, I didn't know either. Not until today."
Castiel's gaze softened, and he took a step closer, standing just at the edge of the bed. "Your powers are tied to your emotions, Amara. That much is clear. As they grow stronger, so too will your ability to influence those around you. If you are feeling something strongly—especially emotions such as desire or fear—it's entirely possible that those feelings are being projected onto others."
Amara swallowed hard, her mind spinning as his words sank in. "But I didn't want this," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "I didn't want to mess with their emotions. It's not fair to them."
Castiel's expression remained calm, but there was a flicker of something close to sympathy in his eyes. "It is not intentional. That is important to remember. Your powers are not fully in your control yet, and the bond you share with Sam and Dean has always been... intense."
Amara's heart skipped a beat at the word bond. "But how do I stop it? How do I stop influencing them without realising it?"
Castiel's gaze held hers for a long moment before he finally spoke. "You must first learn to control your own emotions. The more stable and grounded you are within yourself, the less likely you are to project those feelings outward. Right now, you are overwhelmed—by your powers, by your connection to Sam and Dean, by the threat of Paimon. All of these factors are amplifying what you're experiencing."
