"I'M SO SORRY, IZUKU", you sniffed, your voice heavy with regret. You were about to turn six, standing on the brink of starting elementary school. Despite all your pleading and nagging, Aizawa had remained firm. He wasn't letting you stay in the same school with your friends. Instead, he had made the decision that you would attend another school.
Izuku, ever the kind-hearted friend, gave you a comforting smile, though the sadness in his eyes was unmistakable. "It's okay, [Name]. It's not your fault."
You wiped your eyes with the back of your hand, trying to be strong for him. "Apparently that school is where a lot of Japan's heroes' kids go. That's why Chichi wants me there. He thinks it'll help me... you know, get better."
Izuku nodded, though you could tell the idea of being separated hurt him too. "But we'll still see each other, right?"
"Of course!" you quickly reassured him, your eyes wide with determination. "We'll hang out after school and on weekends, I promise! Just because we won't be in the same class doesn't mean we won't be best friends."
Izuku's smile returned, though it was softer now, tinged with bittersweet acceptance. "You're going to be an amazing hero, [Name]. Even if we're at different schools, I know you'll be great."
You blinked at him, surprised. "You really think so?"
Izuku nodded enthusiastically, his eyes brightening with that unmistakable spark of optimism. "Yeah, I do! You're strong, and you've got so many people believing in you. I know you can do it."
Even though elementary school would likely be too easy for someone with your experience and knowledge, the thought of change was unsettling. Your adult mind, which had already experienced the twists of fate, couldn't shake its doubts. Still, you knew you had to work hard to get into UA, so you could stand by Midoriya and Katsuki when the time came.
You couldn't help but wonder how your deviation from the original story would impact things. Would Izuku still become the hero he was meant to be in the manga? Would Katsuki still grow and develop the way he was supposed to? The uncertainty gnawed at you, but there was no going back now. All you could do was hope that the future would still unfold as it should.
