When Ruby finally stepped through the door, the first thing she realised was that she wasn't in Vacuo, and second was the flash of white as the ground came to meet her.
"Oof!" she cried as she crashed into a pile of white suitcases.
"What are you doing?!" a familiar voice demanded.
Ruby pushed the suitcases away and scowled. She, whatever she is, did that on purpose! "Sorry!"
"'Sorry'? Do you have any idea of the damage you could've caused?!" Weiss demanded, snatching the suitcase Ruby picked up.
Am I... in the past? Ruby wondered as Weiss kept shouting at her, somehow waving fire dust around without noticing, Ruby rushing to hold her nose so she didn't sneeze, again.
"What do you have to say for yourself?!" Weiss demanded.
I should play along for now, maybe Weiss doesn't remember anything yet. Ruby thought, rushing to apologise. I just hope I'm not the only one who remembers...
"Hey Ruby!" Yang cheered, walking over with a grin.
"Hi Yang..." Ruby grumbled.
"Everything okay?" Yang asked.
No, someone from another world just sent me two years into the past, and no one else remembers anything! Ruby wasn't going to say that out loud though, despite not knowing what else to say. "Um..."
"And who are you?" Weiss demanded, turning to the blonde.
"I'm Yang, who're you?" Yang answered.
No sign of recognition... Ruby sulked, failing to notice a certain faunus walking past, shooting the blonde a longing glance.
"Excuse me?!" Weiss shrieked, having expected them to at least recognise her. "My family is the most famous in the world!"
Yang just tilted her head. "Sorry, you do look kinda familiar."
Ruby perked up hopefully.
"Maybe I've just seen you around, come on Rubes." Yang took her sister's hand and led her toward the entrance to Beacon.
"...You dropped this." Blake said, offering the red dust back to the heiress.
----------
"No one recognised me..." Ruby whined, burying her head into her sleeping bag as Yang approached.
"You doing okay sis?" Yang asked, wondering if she should be worried, Ruby had looked miserable ever since she dragged her away from that rude girl in white earlier.
"It's just weird," Ruby answered. "Not knowing anyone here." No one knowing me more like.
"Don't worry, you'll be making new friends in no time!" Yang grinned, clapping her on the back before falling onto the sleeping bag next to her.
"I guess..." Ruby grumbled, rolling onto her back.
When the tree lady said 'when they were needed most' she thought everyone else would at least remember everything! But it wasn't like there was a glowing door that could send her back if she changed her mind!
Ruby scowled at the thought.
As she sulked over 'making stupid decisions without thinking them through' which she could imagine Weiss saying; she noticed a candle being lit.
Ruby sat up curiously, her eyes widening when she realised she forgot about their last team member. "Blake..."
"You know her?" Yang asked, glancing between the two.
Ruby didn't answer, not caring that it messed slightly with how things originally went; this was when Blake and Yang met!
"Hello?" Ruby called nervously as she approached.
Blake looked up, and Ruby felt her eyes sting in relief when she was met with recognition! "Can I help you?"
Ruby quickly blinked the tears away and cleared her throat. "I, um..." And she didn't know what to say, again!
"Hello~!" Yang crowed, walking over to the two. "Ruby, don't just run off!"
"I didn't 'run off,'" Ruby huffed, earning a smile from the sitting girl. "This is Blake!"
Blake's eyes widened, looking like a deer in headlights.
"Hello!" Yang chirped, offering her right hand. "I'm Yang!"
"B-Blake..." the faunus reached up, Ruby only just noticing she wasn't wearing her bow, wincing when she took Yang's right hand; Blake wasn't the only one who found it odd.
"So..." Yang glanced between the two. "I'm guessing you two wanted to chat, right? I'll leave you to it."
Blake's eyes widened, reaching out to the blonde, who went back to her sleeping bag, humming something familiar as she did.
"So you do remember?" Ruby asked.
Blake nodded. "What happened? One minute we were going to Vacuo, then I was here." Blake gestured around; two years in the past, at Beacon.
"The tree, lady, said we would go to when we're needed most." Ruby reminded her, wondering if it had more to do with their conversation that her cryptic words.
"You think she meant our first day of Beacon?" Blake asked.
Ruby smiled, wasn't Blake meant to be the smart one? "I think she meant before all the bad stuff happened," Ruby corrected. "I just hope Weiss and Yang remember soon."
Blake nodded in agreement, looking over at Yang longingly, it made Ruby feel bad, even though she hadn't done anything wrong. "I hope so."
