Ida

Soft snow was the first thing I felt under me when I woke up. The pain coming from my right hip and thigh were the next. When I opened my eyes, slowly blinking a few times to get rid of the blurriness, I saw the dark forest staring back at me.

I let out a groan when I tried to sit up, my shoulder hurt too. What the fuck happened to me?

I heard a twig snap to my left, then the crunching of snow. Like someone didn't feel like hiding their steps anymore after the twig let off where they were. I rolled my head to look in the direction of the noise, I couldn't see much of anything. My vision started to go blurry again. But I could see a dark silhouette coming closer. They crouched down next to me, cocking their head to the side to get a better look. Their masked face was inching toward mine.

I let off a groan when they touched my shoulder, before I shut my eyes again I finally registered the color of the mask they wore. Blue.

~~~~~~
Warm.
When I woke up again I felt the bed under me, it was warm. I heard a fire somewhere nearby, the soft popping waking me up. I open my eyes and look around the small cabin. The only light coming from the fireplace, the small bed I was on, a table and small kitchen space filled in the rest of the cabin.
Confused, I tried to sit up but the main in my hip stopped me. I let out a groan and pushed myself to sit up all the way. Freezing when I heard the handle on the door turn.
A man with a blue mask walked in, he practically took up the whole doorway. His black hoodie stretched over his shoulders and chest. I could see brown shaggy hair poking out from behind his mask. He pulled his hood over his head and cinched the ties. Black gloves covering his large hands.
"Oh, you're awake." His voice sounded like gravel, like he wasn't used to speaking. "Can you tell me your name?" He stood on the other side of the cabin by the door, like he knew if he moved I would have tried to run.
I paused, trying to think of my name. What was it? Memories flashed quickly through my mind, a swing set, a River, an old barn, some people I didn't know the name of. Who was I? Suddenly I could remember an older woman speaking. "Ida, sit up straight." Then I hear myself giggling in the memory. The old woman gave me a stern look.
"Ida." I cleared my throat. "My name is Ida." The man nodded but didn't say anything. "What's your name?" I whispered.
The man just looked at me. After a few beats I heard him let out a breathy laugh.
"Do you not remember me?" He cocked his head to the side. I mimicked him. Trying to search my memories but without seeing the man's face I came up with nothing.
"Maybe if you took off your mask? I don't recall anyone wearing a mask like yours. Is it close to Halloween or something?" I glanced out the window. It was still snowing so it couldn't be Halloween.
"My name is Jack. And you and I just met a week ago or so. But I never got your name. It was more in passing than anything but I found you interesting." I looked back over to him, confused. He heaved a sigh. "Honestly we were supposed to meet up today but you didn't show. I went looking for you and found you in the woods." I tried to remember how I even got into the woods, thinking the memory was recent and it would be easier to remember.
Nothing came to mind before I woke up in the snow.  A quick memory flashed in my mind before it was gone. Blood. Lots of blood everywhere. I must have made a face because Jack stepped closer to me and reached his hand out.
