Chapter 8 - I love you

Zach's P.O.V

it's been a little over three weeks since Sami died. I promised her I wouldn't let this world change me and it's been really really hard to keep that promise. I'm really grateful for Beth and Dean, and well everyone in the group. We've taken camp at a prison and I have to admit, even though it was hard work getting it cleared, I think it's the most secure place that we can have.

"What you thinking about?" Dean sits down next to me.

"Honestly?" I look over at him. "Nothing and everything all at once."

"I get that. It feels like the world is so quiet lately it's hard to constantly be thinking all of the time." I nod in agreement with him.

"How are you doing with the whole Sami thing?" He looks at me and I sigh.

"I don't know. It's hard because in my head she's always been my big sister, the girl who can take on the entire world and did and now she's gone you know? But I'd also be lying if I said that a part of me is glad that she isn't on this earth anymore. She never has to wonder where her next meal is gonna come from, or if she can sleep without worrying about being ripped to shreds from dead people walking around you know?" I look at him and he nods.

"No I think all of that is real. Death is a weird thing and like you said, she's happier than I think any of us will ever be again." He sighs.

"Do you wanna know what I miss the most about her?" I look out into the woods.

"What is that?" He smiles.

"Her stupid dad jokes." I laugh. "She was so witty and told the most awful jokes but man she always knew how to break tension and everyone always loved her for it." I chuckle. "I would do anything to be able to hear one of those again."

"Sami was a special one that's for sure." He smiles and I nod in agreement.

"What about you?" I look over at him. "How are you doing with the whole bounty situation?" Deans car gave out on him one day and he spent all day fixing it but just didn't have the supplies he needed. Some guy driving a tow truck took it and tried to convince us to come but we all wanted to keep moving forward and find a place that we could make our own.

"Oh man." He sighs, I think that he is tearing up. "She was my first love, I'll never find another like her." We both start cracking up.

"Drama queen." I chuckle and we both happily sigh.

"Hey Zach?" Dean looks at me.

"Yeah?" I smile.

"I think you're gonna be okay." He smiles patting my shoulder and I nod in agreement.

"Yeah, me too." I smile. "Me too." I stand up and wipe the dirt off of my pants.

"I'm gonna hit the hay, I'll see you in the morning?" I smile and he nods.

"Go get some good sleep, you deserve it." He smiles and I head inside for the night. I walk over to Beth's cell and I lean in the doorway.

"Hey beautiful." I smile as she looks up at me.

"Hi." She smiles as she stands up off of her bed.

"You need anything for bed?" I wrap my arms around her waist and kiss her nose. I know I'm young and I've only known her for about three months but I love this girl so much. There's something about her, she's just so special.

"No, I'm okay." She smiles putting her hand on my chest. "Well maybe one thing." She giggles as she stands up on her tippy toes and presses her lips against mine. I smile as I hold her close and press my lips against hers.

"I love you." I smile against her lips. I can see her eyes light up.

"I love you." She strokes her cheeks with my thumb. "Come with me." She whispers pulling me down the hall towards some of the offices that we cleared out.

"What are we doing?" I smile as she pulls us into an office and closes the door behind me.

"I want to have sex with you." She looks up at me and I feel my heart beating out of my chest.

"Are you sure?" I look down at her as I stroke her hair. "We don't have to just because I told you I love you."

"No I know." She smiles. "I've been thinking about it for a couple of weeks now and I think I'm ready. I'm a little nervous well extremely nervous because this is my first time but I really want to" she raddled on, gosh she is so cute.

"It's my first time too." I smile kissing her lips. "We can figure this out together, okay?" She smiles and nods. I pick her up in my arms and carry her over to a desk, gently setting her down. I take a second to admire her and just think about how lucky I am.

I never thought I would lose my virginity in a prison but I also never thought there would be dead people walking around outside who are constantly trying to eat me.

Once Beth and I were finished I walked her back to her cell, kissed her goodnight and told her that I loved her. As I lay here in my bed I can't help but thinking about my future with Beth, I love her, I want to marry her. In this prison, we can really build a future, we can make it safe and bring other people in.

As sad as I've been about Sami, I have to move on. I have people here who need me and people we need to find and help, it's what Sami would want me to do. I just know it.

"Hey you awake?" I hear someone whisper, I look up and I see Daryl.

"Yeah, what's up?" I sit up in my bed.

"I'm gonna go on a hunt tomorrow and I promised Sami I would take care of you so I'm gonna show you how to hunt. You down?" He looks at me.

"Yeah it'll be good for me to learn how to do that. Just wake me up when you're ready, okay?" I look at him and he nods then walks away.

Tomorrow starts the beginning of a new chapter, tomorrow starts the beginning of rebuilding a new life, a new world.

I miss you Sami and I'll always love you but it's time for me to do something that will honor you. I fall asleep thinking about the all of the potential that this place holds.
