Next day, Saturday

Rose's POV :

"Here! Here!"
I waved at a lost, mask-covered Jay wandering around to look for me while sipping my vanilla mocha with chocolate chip.

I don't know why Jay suddenly texted me this morning and asked me to come meet him at a nearby cafe, well actually, my regular cafe' and that cafe' we first met, but I'd be lying if I'd said that I wasn't happy to get called :3

And maybe because in this cafe' everyone is busy with themselves than recognising Jay and attack him.

Jay's eyes dropped on me with relief as he came to me and sat on the table I'm sitting in.

My heart wiggled a bit in my ribcage by just seeing him, like always. So I chirped up, hoping to ease whatever tension hung between us.

"Before you say 'I'm so so so sorry I'm late and wasted your priceless time' - here's your coffee. Your regular is clean Matcha with creme, right?" I pushed the green looking (disgusting) cup to him. "I got bored while waiting and ordered for you and myself."

His head fell back with laughter. He took the coffee and sipped with the straw, and if I'm not lying, I might be reading a bit too much smut romances - because that was so sexy.

"Good job," His amused voice cut me off from being a creep. "and, I'm so so so sorry I'm late and wasted your priceless time."

I let out a loud laugh at his well-known dad joke, but he didn't. Instead, he sat with a traceable stiffness, constantly avoiding my eyes.

I stopped laughing. "Wait, are seriously upset about that? I was joking!-"

"No no, that's not it."

Hmm. Avoiding eye contacts are SUSPICIOUS.

I leaned back on my chair and fixed my office skirt absentmindedly while the wind made my own long hair slap my face.
"Something's bothering you?"

He scratched his neck and suddenly found the view behind me very interesting.

"No--yes actually--I--fuck it, Jake-" He mumbled under his breath.

"I knew you wanted to say something when you wanted to meet today." I leaned forward on my elbows on our table and wiggled my eye brows. "What is it? Spit it! Waittt, did you finally decide to take mercy on me and spoil your next comeback??!!"

He let out a half laugh half cough. "No."

"Then? Another HYBE scandal?"

"No." - was his flat answer again.

He's acting a bit weird today. Like he's nervous.

I tried to cheer him up.
"Then anything you want to tell me? I'm in a good mood today!"

The corner of his mask lifted up, signing a smirk. His eyes glowed with a little bit of amusement. "You're always in a good mood. I've never seen anyone so cheery as you, to be honest."

"Hmm?" I batted my eye lashes. "Isn't Jake much more cheerful than me though?"
I teased.

"Ok we're not gonna talk about him right now." He nodded and straightened up, like he remembered something important again.

I laughed and asked him while sipping my coffee. "Okay then. Change of the subject. Tell me what have you been screeching to tell me this whole meeting. I may be cheerful, but I work as a lawyer, Jay. I can read expressions." I winked playfully.
