maybe this is not how the world works.
it doesn’t stay in one place, it spins indeed.
it goes to the places you have never been,
and you feel like you’re being left behind
because you lock yourself in your room,
not giving an effort to chase it outside
like a dog when its owner threw a ball.

and if we are not dogs,
what are we?
if we can’t decide what to do on our own,
that’s why we wait for what will be offered
to us, what are we?
aren’t we dogs, patiently waiting for
what will be served in front of us?
aren’t we dogs, listening to commands
like ‘sit’ and ‘roll over’ and ‘eat this’ and
‘suck that’ and ‘bite them’ and ‘wear this’
and ‘watch that’ and ‘praise us’ and do
them without asking just for the
compliments, what are we?

you are a good dog when you follow
because they benefit from you.
but if you’re not a dog,
what are you?
