15th September, 2024Chanyeol's POV:
"Loey, help me reach the upper shelf please!" she called from the living room. Today, she had a sudden urge to deep clean the house cause she just noticed the pile of laundry clothes begging us to fold and place them in the wardrobe, and the other mess in the house, lol."Commmiiinngggg shawty!" I responded, shaking my head.
"Stop calling me that, YOU WALKING PALM TREE!!" she teased back. I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out. "How can I help you ma'am?" I asked looking at the 'less messy' mess with a satisfied smile.
"Can you reach the top shelf?" she asked, jumping up and down in an attempt to reach it herself, which made me chuckle. I easily reached the shelf and began taking down the items stored there.
"Babe, pass me the cleaning cloth please." I asked her. No response? Where did she go? "Babe?" I called again, looking around the room. I found her sitting on the sofa, opening a rusty metal box that I just took down from the top shelf.
"What are you looking at?" I asked sitting next to her on the sofa. "Remember this?" she asked, showing me an old piece of paper with something written on it. I took the piece of paper from her hand and started reading it. It instantly reminded me of my university days. The memories felt fresh and vivid.
"How can I forget this babe?" I smiled, looking at her.
[FLASHBACK]
I've spent several nights agonizing over this but tonight, I finally gathered the courage to write this.
"Dear Y/N,
I have been wanting to tell this to you"I stopped writting...
Urgghhhh, I groaned. I had so much on my mind that had to be written but now that started penning down my thoughts, my brain stopped braining. I scratched my head trying to recall.
I line up the memories in my mind
Writing them down one by one ~With a deep breath, I continued writing.
Hours passed, and before I realized it, it was 5 a.m. already. I had spent nearly the whole night writing this letter. After writing the very last line, I folded the paper neatly and placed it inside an envelope.
Stretching my arms and nearly falling out of my chair in the process, I glanced around and noticed the pile of crumpled papers on the floor, showing the struggle to write the "perfect" letter.
As I try to choose the right words to say
Time slips away
On a very deep night when everyone is asleep~I quickly gathered and threw them in the trash can and proceeded to do my daily routine, after which I went to help grandma in the kitchen.
...
Later that day, I entered the class dressed in the best outfit I had. I sat beside to her. She greeted me sweetly "Good morning!". Her gummy smile almost had me melt inwardly, and making me forget about the nervousness growing on me.
The moment our eyes met,
Everything brightened up~Taking a deep breath, trying to calm myself down, I gently tapped her shoulder.
"Hey..I have something for you.." I said, handing her the envelope. Her eyes lit up with curiosity as she opened the envelope slowly.
As her eyes moved from left-to-right reading the letter, my heart raced faster and faster, to a point where I thought she could hear it when she looked at me for a brief moment and then started laughing.
Oh no, did I mess it up?
[END OF FLASHBACK]
The memory had us laughing, remembering the moments we spent together.
"I still remember that expression on your face when I started laughing after reading your letter." she laughed pointing at me. I really thought I messed it up. My overthinking brain had already started formulating escape strategies to avoid further embarrassment and then she said the letter was too cute so she couldn't hold her laughter in. I rolled my eyes at this thought and we continued looking at the other things she kept in that rusty metal box that held our memories.
...
"Coffee is ready! Have it while it's hot babe!" I called her, carrying two steaming mugs of coffee to the balcony where we usually enjoyed our evening coffees together.
"Coming in a minute!" she said, from the bedroom.
I sat there, admiring the view from our balcony while thinking of how our relationship evolved from crushes, to lovers, to the "famous campus couple" to getting married this year. This brought a smile on my face, causing my ears to rise slightly.
"What got you smiling, Loey?" she asked walking behind me.
"Nothing" I said sighing, still smiling.
She took her coffee mug and sat beside me admiring the view along with me.
"Babe..." I said.
"Hmmm?"
"Isn't it just so beautiful to see how our relationship has evolved through the years. From uni days, to going our seperate ways for the sake of our careers and then meeting again? Isn't it destiny?" I asked.
"Oh my my, my little Loey has become a deep thinker." She said ruffling my hair. "Yes Loey, just thinking of it makes me feel very happy and lucky to have you." she added, hugging me.
"I'm always by your side, Loey..."
"I'm on your side too, my love" I said, holding her tiny hands in mine, rubbing her knuckles gently.
Always be with you
Words that I was too shy to often say
Holding your small hands in mine
I want to convey the feelings ~---
