Joanna's POV

I smash my hand on my alarm and get ready for work. I do my usual routine: put on a fresh pot of coffee, wash my face, get dressed, drink my coffee, grab my stuff and head out the door. You could say my life was pretty simple. I mean I pretty much do the same thing everyday of my life. Wake up, get to work, go home, with the occasional after work gathering. I like my small life, it is very cozy and I like it that way. Especially right now during the autumn time, it's my favorite time of year. The beautiful leaves, the warm cozy vibes, the music, I'd have to say I'm at my calmest during the fall time.

I walk down the streets of Manhattan admiring the scenery and the autumn breeze. I walk up to the coffee shop I work at, Your Moms Coffee and enter. I greet Sally the owner.

"Hey Sally!" I say with a smile

"Good Morning sweetheart! Can you come help me with these baked goods?"She greets me

"Yeah of course let me just put my things down"

I ran to the back of the store where there is a small employee room to put my things. I walk back to the front to help Sally. I grab a tray of cookies and biscuits out of Sally's hands and walk over to the display case.

"So the weekend's coming up, do you have any plans?"

"Sally, you already know the answer to the question." I say with a face

"You're young Joanie, you gotta put yourself out there"

"I'm perfectly content with my life"I say with a small smile

"But you shouldn't be, you are to young to settle down already"she says in a little bit of a serious tone

Sally has become like a second mother to me so she always worries. She doesn't like that I do the same thing everyday and am not searching for more. I know I'm young and should want to venture out, but I just never had the desire to. I like my simpleton life, I'm comfortable here.

"You need to go out into the world, experience life, and maybe find a special someone to share it with"

I raise an eyebrow to her " I don't want to talk about this Sally"

She raises her hands in surrender "okay okay i'll some prying.......for now"

I chuckle at her while I grab my apron and begin to work.

Parker's POV

I wake up to my pup Teddy liking my face, waiting to be fed.

"Okay buddy I'm coming" I say getting up to go to the kitchen to feed him. I head back to my room and brush my teeth and get dressed. I walk to the living room to grab my bag, books, and keys before I head out the door.

"I'll be back soon buddy" I say to Teddy, patting him on the head.

I rush out of my apartment building on the street and start to head to campus. I'm running a little late, so I have no time to stop for coffee. I've got a really big report coming up and I've pretty much been spending all of my time on it. Haven't had much time for socializing, sometimes I'll go for a beer with some friends on the weekend, but that's pretty much the extent of it. It's really important to my dad that I get a good job to keep up the family name. So that's what i've been doing, study, class, walk Teddy. That's my routine.

I run into my building straight to my classroom and sit down right before professor Marks starts talking. He's my favorite professor, super chill and understanding. Honestly he's the person I go to for advice a lot. I've had him as a professor for a while now so I'd say we have a good bond. We sit for class for about an hour and half with extra notes. I was spending a little extra minutes getting everything down, when professor Mark speaks to me.

"Burning the candle at both ends I see" He says with his brows raised.

"Yeah I guess so, got make sure I got everything before I go"

"Listen Parker, you're a fantastic students, one of my best" I look up from my book as he sits in the chair of the desk in front of me

"But, I see you working too hard" He says with a concerned look

"Well isn't that the point, I mean I gotta work hard to get a good job"I say

"You're completely right, and jobs are important, but living life and experiencing all of its beauty is also important"

I stayed silent as he got up from his seat and tapped me on the shoulder

"Don't let it pass by you" he said sincerely

I just gave him a nod and a small smile.

~ A few hours later~

I finally finished my classes and made it back to my apartment. I managed to get a good chunk of my work done so I could relax a bit when I get home. I walk into my apartment and am greeted by a happy Teddy.

"Hey Buddy!" I say bending down to pet him. Seeing him releases some of my stress.

I set my things down and grab his leash

"Come on bud let's go for a walk" He wags his tail with joy.

We're walking down the streets enjoying the weather and our nice walk. I enjoy teddy and my walks, they give me a little bit of peace in my chaotic study schedule. All of a sudden a large group of people come off the bus and in our direction. The sidewalk gets crowded quickly and I start bumping into people. All of a sudden I felt Teddy's leash fall from my hand. I start to panic running through all the people and trying to see if I can find him.

"Teddy!" I call out while still looking for him

"Teddy come here boy!" My heart starts to race faster and faster.

I start walking around a couple of streets trying to find him.

Joanna's POV

I just finished my shift at the shop and started walking home to my apartment

I turned some music on and enjoyed the walk. The sun was starting to go down so the leaves looked exceptionally beautiful.

I was a couple blocks from my apartment when I felt something hit my leg. I look down to see the cutest cavalier king charles dog standing in front of me with a leash still attached to it. I bend down to pet him.

"Hello" I say in doggy speak.

"Where's your owner?" I say while reaching for its tags.

"Teddy, that's a cute name" I give him a small smile

I was thankful to also find a number on his collar. So I grabbed his leash and started leading him to my apartment

"Come buddy, let's get you inside" I said as we begin to walk

We made it to my apartment and I brought him in and he laid on the couch. I put my things down and walk over to him.

"Okay, bud let's call this number and get you home".
