"you still suck at cooking"
i rolled my eyes as joshua stared at the veggies i had chopped judgmentally. they weren't too bad, just some tomatoes butchered until it became a tomato puree. how this happened is a mystery even too me.
suddenly an idea popped up in my mind.
"teach me then" i smiled coyly remembering the time he used that excuse to flirt. but this time, he didn't seem to notice my intention.
"i have taught you a lot of times already."
he was focused on cooking, humming a pleasant melody while i pouted behind him. maybe he was just too busy with the cooking, there isn't much i can do to help.
in my two times at his place, i almost set his new apartment on fire once. again, i have no idea how but somehow luck always finds a way to embarrass me. thankfully, he wasn't mad about it, only concerned because i could've hurt myself.
when i didn't say anything for a few minutes, he finally looked back and chuckled at what i hope was a cute sulky face and not a funny one. i stood with my arms folded in front of my chest, looking away to let him know that i am not melting easily. he left the stove behind and walked up to me, tilting his head to look into my downturned eyes with a sweet smile.
shit.
"you don't even want to look at me?"
"no." i turned away from him, biting my lip to stop the smile trying to break free. he laughed softly as he took hold of my hands and unfolded them gently.
"then i will make sure you can't see me."
what?
i was flustered and for a moment wondering if he was offended and would actually leave but instead as soon as i turned towards him to say i was just pretending, he pulled me closer by the waist and his lips found mine.
i didn't realize when my eyes closed themselves as i kissed back perhaps too eagerly.
i blinked as he pulled away, winking at me before going back to the food practically screaming for his attention with the way it was sizzling. what just happened?
"do you know how to flip a kimchi jeon?"
i shook my head and he placed his hand on my back, giving a subtle push towards the counter.
"watch me."
he flipped it with a flick of his wrist and i watched in awe. how can one person be good at every thing?
before i knew it, the perfectly crispy and savory pancakes were done along with the drinks that i had perfectly poured into glasses.
he isn't the only one who can do things perfectly... definitely not.
"you are so perfect" i pecked his cheek and he was about to say something when the ring of his phone interrupted him.
he looked at his phone and sighed deeply. feeling curious because of his reaction i peeked into it and couldn't help but laugh when i realized it was jeonghan.
of course.
who else would ruin a perfect romantic moment except my still single brother.
but, does he sigh when i call too often? what- yoon jihye! stop overthinking. of course he doesn't.
"darling why don't you set the table while i finish this up?"
"sure"
"don't break the plates."
"of course i won-"
i grinned sheepishly as joshua shook his head seeing me almost trip with the new set of crockery.
