Chapter 16

"What's he doing here?"

"What do you mean?"

Jett was walking at the park with his date and accidentally saw Kiernan. He excused himself and immediately turned to his phone and called Kai. It was ringing for a while but then Kai picked up.

[Hello? What is it? Do you need anything?]

"No,it's just... I just saw Kiernan walking alone. I thought it was just my imagination, so I called you?"

[Where are you? Is he okay?]

[what is it Kai?---Oh..uh, I'm sorry, I have to go]

Jett was surprised when he heard a familiar voice and was suprisingly from a girl, but he didn't minded it and just told Kai that he was at a park. Kai thanked him and turned off his phone and immediately ran off, leaving Raelynn behind.

Kiernan had already left the park and kept on walking until he reached the bridge, it was full of cars and trucks that kept on moving fast and loud. He walks at the side as he began to think of his past along with the short memory he had of Kai.

It was a bitter feeling for him, along with an inexplicable feeling he had for Kai. For a moment, they'd talk like they've always been close, then in a minute Kai would draw the line again. He knew at that time that Kai was always uncomfortable when they're together. Although, Kiernan knew it, it still didn't stopped him from making the air between them intolerable.

In that moment, Kiernan looked down from the bridge and a vast ocean appeared in his eyes. It was his first time to see the ocean. As he kept on staring at it, his marks suddenly acted up and he felt a burning sensation. His knees collapsed on the ground and a huge thud was heard, but no one was there to help him, instead, an awful and disgustingly eerie laugh was heard from afar.

Kiernan turned his head to his left and saw a woman in white and black hair, a typical ghost that you see in all horror movies, but she was a bit different. She was clean and didn't come off as scary, in fact she looked elegant and warm, somehow giving a benevolent vibes.

"Who are you? State your name"

Kiernan asked her a question. However, she didn't cared one bit, she was only looking forward, staring at the sea, and in a few minutes she unexpectedly sang a song.

"Rock a bye baby on the treetop
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall and down will come baby
Cradle and all. Oh hush now baby--"

She seemed to have sang a lullaby song. It was supposed to feel comfortable and calming, almost serene, but it was a bit different with the way she sings it. It was creepy and had a screeching sound following the lyrics. Although, she was stopped by Kiernan who shouted at her as he felt disturbed and disgusted by the familiar and yet unknown sound that she made.

"Stop it with your damn bloody song!! It is fvcking disgusting! Get out of here! I do not need another person to bother me anymore"

However, even after Kiernan yelled a the woman, she didn't move an inch at all, instead, she just stood there quiet and stared at the sea again. Kiernan got pissed and tried to walk towards her until she opened her mouth and let out a cackle with her eyes wide open.

Kiernan paused and was confused what was happening to her, until she slowly stopped laughing and was only smiling with her gums showing. And at that moment her head slowly turned towards Kiernan. Kiernan was uncomfortable with the way her gaze looked at him, he thought it was full of rage and disgust, almost like she didn't wanted to look at him and was only forcing herself.

"What the hell do you want with me?! You crazy old woman!!"

As the air between them became colder and their hair were swaying with the wind, the woman raised her arms and pointed her fingers to the ocean as she stared at him. In just a second, Kiernan knew what she was plotting, and snickered at the thought.

Although, it was his initial plan to drown in the ocean he wasn't planning to kill himself, rather, he just wanted to feel the vast ocean on his body. Based on what his plotting, the former seemed more connected to his plan compared to his original reasoning. Kiernan just sighed at the woman as he closed his eyes and brushes his hair with his hands, his pale skin showed even more as his  forehead was seen and his marks was more visible.

"Look, if you do not have any business with me, go away, I am not in the mood to play with fvcking old creepy women. Do you even hear--"

After Kiernan tries to eject the woman, he was taken aback by the sudden disappearance of the woman when he turned his way to the spot where she was supposed to be, it wasn't that long that the woman was Infront of him, but he couldn't find her everywhere even if he scanned the place full of speeding vehicles.

Kiernan unconsciously put his hands at his face with his head throbbing in pain along with the marks that stung him, however, he was already used with the pain from the mark. The only thing that was foreign to him was the pang from his heart where the mark clearly started. Kiernan has actually noticed from the few weeks his been staying in Kai's apartment, that whenever he's away from him, the marks would sting him as how a bee would sting people.

The image of Kai suddenly came up in his head and he was contemplating wether he should go back or let his ego take him away. As he kept on thinking on what to choose, someone from the distant called out his name.

"KIERNAN!"

Kiernan's eyes widened when he turned his head, and an exhausted panting Kai was running towards him and suddenly hugged him tightly with Kai's hands wrapped around his neck and Kiernan was left speechless and motionless as he was still surprised and with a flushed face.

"I'm sorry...."

As Kiernan heard the soft voice of Kai apologizing to him, he almost let out a tear, it was the first time that someone had apologized to him... It was his first time that he didn't had to beg for forgiveness to other people with the actual fault. So Kiernan was pleased by Kai's apology and put both of his hands on Kai's back. His hostility towards Kai broke down along with his throbbing pains.
