Life of a unicorn

People call you weird, abnormal, alien even, but you don't understand why just because you're just being yourself all the time.

You won't bend around the rules they make. You won't even comply with the standard they're addressed to.

You're just a unicorn.

All alone.

In a world where unicorns have cut off their horns.

Just to be another horse.

Maybe if you just stopped chasing rainbows, they'd accept you. They'll still always judge you. You're still a unicorn even if you don't wear your horn.

You stick out like a sore thumb in the stall. You're not any other horse.

Wandering eyes and a watchful gaze rest upon your glowing horn and silk like hair flowing down to the hay filled floor.

They want to make you regret the skin you wear. They don't like the mind you bear. They want to change you into every one of them.

Either you fight the battle and lose, or you give in and lose yourself.

That's just the life of a unicorn.

Chasing rainbows and feeling all alone.

Being judged for the way you were born.

Adapting to the norms or trying your best to catch your breath as they hold your head below the waters just to die for what you are in the end.

If you're lucky they'll just cut off the horn on your head and look away when the blood gushes out because they can't handle the gore or it's just because don't want to clean up the mess they made.

This poem could be about anything or anyone, but there's always just one meaning to it. That's the meaning that you feel makes you understand or somewhat relate to it.
