Omniscient
"So this is your desk" Messiah said as he opened the door to her cubicle"Ooouu wow I have my own little deskkkk" Mia dragged out the words, nodding her head with a playful grin as she took in her surroundings.
Messiah smirked, leaning against the cubicle doorway, arms folded across his chest. "Yea you officially big time now."
Mia ran her fingers over the desk, admiring the setup: a sleek laptop, some Google-branded notebooks, and a small succulent plant in the corner. "This feels so surreal," she said softly. "I never thought I'd actually get here."
"Stop acting like you ain't deserve this ma," Messiah replied. "I told you I was gone make sure you got it."
"Yeah, but still... this is huge for me. Thank you, Messiah, really," she said as she leaned against the desk and stared at him in his eyes with her head tilted.
Messiah licked his lips and nodded his head as he looked at her as well. "You welcome" he said back
Mia kept her gaze fixed on Messiah, absorbing the details of his face and tattoos. The way his features and inked designs intertwined made him look incredibly fine to her.
Mia's eyes gazed over his sleeve tattoos until she came closer to him. She ran her hand down his arm, admiring his tattoos. "Aww you got Ava tatted on you" she said as she grazed her thumb across the side of his neck where he had his daughter's name tatted.
Messiah's muscles tensed under Mia's touch, but he stayed relaxed, keeping his gaze on her. "Hell yeah," he murmured, his voice dropping lower. "She my world."
Mia's fingers lingered on his tattoo for a moment longer. She could feel the warmth radiating off his skin. She pulled her hand away slowly, glancing up at him with a small smile. "That's sweet. I didn't know you were that soft."
Messiah chuckled, his eyes narrowing slightly as he leaned in closer, just enough that she could feel his presence without him touching her. "I ain't soft Mia. But for my daughter? I'll do anything." He said staring directly into her eyes.
Her heart skipped a beat at the intensity in his gaze. Considering the tattoos and his association with Nas, She figured Messiah had a past—-but the way he talked about his daughter showed a side of him she hadn't seen before.
"You full of surprises, aren't you?" Mia asked as she tilted her head staring up at him.
"Shit I would say the same about you," he said, as his looked down at her smirking. He took a step forward, closing the gap between them just enough that Mia's butt lightly pressed against her desk.
She twisted her lips to the side but she didn't move. She could feel the tension building between them, thickening the air. Part of her knew she should step back, create some distance—but another part of her was drawn to him, curious about what could happen if she didn't.
Before she could respond, her phone buzzed on the desk. She glanced down, seeing CJ's name flash on the screen.
Cj❤️
How it's going? I miss you
Bra Youn see me texting youThe message snapped her back to reality. Messiah's proximity, the tension between them, it all faded for a moment as guilt settled in her chest. She couldn't ignore the fact that CJ was still in the picture, and that she loved and was committed to him. She didn't want him thinking she was just another "hoe" who wanted to "get some get back"
Messiah noticed the shift in her expression and glanced at her phone. His jaw tightened for a brief second, "Cj checking up on you?" he asked casually, though there was a trace of something else in his voice—something she couldn't quite place.
