Forty-Four
PUSHING THEIR cart on the pasta aisle, David has been asking Warren what he would choose between the two variants of pasta he was holding.
"My lord, what do you think we should get? Fettuccine or Linguine?"
His eyes drifted to both pastas. "Well, if we're going for a dish where the sauce has to stick and coat the pasta entirely, we should go for the fettuccine. But if we're going for a dish that has a thin coating of sauce or is just a bit lighter, let's choose the linguine."
"Ohhh, ganun pala yun." Tumatangong tugon ni David. "Then, I'll choose the fettuccine pasta. We're both heavy eaters, and I like my pasta creamy anyway."
Warren bit his tongue to stop himself from saying something inappropriate. Huh. Creamy.
"You good with that?" Pangungumpirma ni David.
"Sure, baby. Whatever you like." Then Warren brought his gaze back on his phone, staring at it intently again.
Seeing Warren so eager to play with his phone again, David couldn't help but feel suspicious about it, though he never confronted Warren or outright asked him about it.
He's been like that ever since we entered the store... Well, it's probably a text from his father or something about work. David just shrugged his shoulders off and moved to the sauce section.
After choosing their brand of white sauce for the Carbonara dish they're planning to have for dinner tonight, they're now on their way to the milk section of Landers.
"Whole milk or low fat?" David turned around and faced Warren.
"Both," Warren said without even looking up to David. His gaze stayed on his phone.
His action earned a raised brow from David, but just like before, David did not even bother pointing it out in the open and just let Warren be. Instead, he just grabbed three boxes of each variant of the milk that Warren chose.
Ano ba kasi yung tinitignan niya?
David immediately shook his head when he realized he's getting too preoccupied and curious about the thing that Warren was looking at.
Okay, let's not pry too much. Warren will tell me about it if it was something important.
He's very expressive when it comes to me.
Yes tama. Ganun 'nga yun. Okay, pokus na uli tayo sa paggo-grocery.
Unfortunately, that didn't go exactly as David had planned.
