On his way to an address, Taemin braked his car due to the red light. When he noticed Mr. Kang's news was airing on an office building's giant screen, the news had spread across the country like wildfire.
Suddenly, Taemin was startled by a car's horn. He saw the red light had turned green, so he started the engine and drove ahead to reach Mr. Kang's house.
As soon as Taemin reached there, he saw detective Jung marching out of Mr. Kang's house. Parking the car and grabbing some papers from the back seat of the car, Taemin got out.
'You're late, kid,' detective Jung shouted, spotting Taemin.
'I'm sorry, sir. This is the list of the phone numbers which were around the area of the crime last night,' Taemin said, handing over the papers to his senior detective Jung.
'Any clue?' detective Jung asked.
'No, sir, there is nothing to doubt,' Taemin said.
'Okay, let's go inside.'
Detective Jung went inside the house as Taemin followed him. The house was so big from the inside.
Entering, they saw Mrs. Kang sitting on the sofa, staring out the huge glass window. Detective Jung cleared his throat to draw her attention to them.
'Oh, detective,' she said as she stood up from the sofa.
'I'm sorry, Mrs. Kang, we are disturbing you in this situation but if you cooperate with us, it will be a huge help,' Detective Jung explained to Mrs. Kang.
'Okay.'
'Thank you, Mrs. Kang.
I want to search Mr. Kang's office room, may I?' Detective Jung asked.
'Okay, please come with me.'
Mrs. Kang showed them the office and then left them alone.
Thoroughly, Detective Jung and Taemin checked Mr. Kang's files, cupboard, and drawers, but they didn't find anything that could be helpful.
When Detective Jung doubted, he bent down and checked under the table. There, he found a phone taped to the lower surface of the table. The phone was switched off, so Detective Jung switched it on. However, it was locked and Mr. Kang's fingerprint was needed to unlock it.
'Take this phone to our forensic department,' Detective Jung ordered Taemin, handing over the phone.
In the evening, Aiden was waiting for Haeun, standing in the middle of the living room. It was time to leave for the party.
When Aiden saw Miss Suzy leading Haeun down the stairs, she was wearing a peach-colored gown. She looked stunning. As Aiden watched her walking down the stairs unconsciously, Aiden's breath became uneven. He felt like he was losing his powers looking at this girl named Haeun.
When Miss Suzy made Haeun stand in front of Aiden, Aiden's heart raced. He dragged in a breath, along with the air of Haeun's perfume's sweet scent that entered his lungs.
'Aren't you going to open the car door?' Miss Suzy teased Aiden.
Aiden finally got back his conscience and faced Miss Suzy, who chuckled secretly at Aiden.
'Yeah, sure.' Aiden walked out of the house to open the back door of the car.
As Miss Suzy led Haeun to the car and settled her inside the car.She sat there in silence, holding her folded cane on her lap.
When Aiden closed the door and took the driver's seat to start the engine and drive, Aiden was thinking about his sudden behavioral change from earlier but shrugged it off. He focused on his drive as he found no reason to entertain his feelings.
The sun was setting behind the high-rise buildings of the city; the sky looked heavenly.
At around 6:30 pm, Aiden parked the car in front of Park Group's main building.
Mr. Choi was already there to open the car door for Haeun. As Mr. Choi helped Haeun out of the car, Aiden came out and stood behind Haeun. She looked captivating under the magical glow of the sky.
Mr. Choi took Haeun inside to the main hall on the top floor of the high-rise office building. Aiden followed them there. The party hall was filled with guests and media. The hall was decorated in a simple yet elegant way.
The moment Haeun entered the hall, everybody's eyes were on her. She walked like a princess, intertwining her arms with Mr. Choi.
Surprisingly, everybody went silent upon seeing her. Only the sound of her cane against the ground could be heard. Mr. Choi placed Haeun at the stage behind the podium.
Ultimately, when Haeun folded her cane while standing on the stage behind the podium, the guests frowned, whispered, and stood in confusion.
Aiden stood beside her on the stage, all alert. As Haeun spoke into the microphone, 'Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, I am Park Haeun, the CEO of Park Group of Companies. I know everybody has been eager to meet me for a long time, so here I am to finally meet you all.'
She paused to gauge the atmosphere of the hall. Everyone was confused. They never expected the CEO of Park Group of Companies to be someone without vision. Like Aiden, they thought Park Haeun would be 'abled'. Not a single word was uttered by anyone.
No one clapped. They stared at Haeun. They were taken aback. Suddenly, the media took the lead and started to click her pictures.
A few questions circulated in the hall. They were: How can a blind person lead a huge business when she needs help to go from one place to another? Was she joking? Does she know how to run a business?
When Haeun spoke further, 'Until now you're all aware of the fact that I can't see. Maybe some of you are doubting my ability to run this business. But I'll prove to you all that a girl like me can run a business successfully like any other businessman. Alongside this, there are people who will try to take advantage of my state. Here, I want to warn them because I won't let anyone hurt my father's business. I hope this introduction of me is enough. And I would love to work with those who are wise. Thank you for coming here today, even though you're all busy people. Please enjoy the party.' Haeun ended her speech.
No one dared to clap until Seojoon, who was present there, started to clap. Gradually, everyone joined in. They clapped for Haeun. She smiled and bowed.
Then Mr. Choi helped Haeun come down from the stage. All the time, Aiden had been listening to Haeun's speech. She was extraordinary. Aiden was amazed by her.
When Haeun came down from the stage, reporters surrounded her. Mr. Choi was there, so when Aiden saw Seojoon coming towards him, he came down from the stage and asked, 'What are you doing here?'
'Shouldn't I ask you the same?'
'I'm serving as Haeun's bodyguard; it's a mission.'
'What?' Seojoon frowned.
As Aiden pulled Seojoon to a corner to avoid people's eyes, 'Haeun has a death threat; dad wants me to save her,' Aiden explained.
But sometimes an explanation needs to be long. Seojoon looked confused.
'We shouldn't be here together talking,' Aiden advised. Seojoon patted Aiden's shoulder twice and walked into the crowd of guests.
When Aiden looked at the spot where Haeun had been standing before, giving an interview. But she wasn't there anymore, Aiden became nervous. He scanned the hall and walked through the guests, excusing himself, but Haeun was nowhere to be seen.
Aiden panicked, realizing Haeun wasn't aware of the place. Moreover, she couldn't go anywhere alone.
Mr. Choi was there in the hall talking with other guests. For a second, Aiden feared losing this mission. He thought of disappointing his father, thought of Haeun.
So he didn't waste a single second and ran out of the party hall. He ran through the never-ending corridors which had huge window glasses. With each and every step, Aiden's nervousness turned into fear, but he didn't find Haeun.
