An annoying bass sounds through the room effectively pulling me from slumber as I drowsily blink open my eyes. I'm lying on a black couch in an office.

My head hurts and the music pulsing through this place is not helping. I must be in some kind of club. I rub my eyes then sit up and look for a way out as the cause for my passing out comes back to me. I try to door, but it's locked. I try the windows behind the couch across from the door.

I hear the jingle of the keys before the door opens and Matt steps in. "Hello, my love."

"Stay away from me." Sickness crashes over me when I realize we're in his nightclub, the same one I had come to on our anniversary.

"Now that I saved you, we can start where we left off. Come on, I have a surprise for you." Matt roughly grabs my arm and drags me through the hallway and into the main part of the club that's been abandoned by the usual crowd and taken over by the same one as the night of our anniversary. Guns and drugs laid out on tables with naked women spread out throughout the room.

Matt throws me into a booth with a few men and sits next to me. "Men, this is Callie. Callie, these are some of my men." I look around at the scary tattooed men and am reminded of Nico and his men.

I glance at Matt, "What do you expect me to say? I want to leave."

He glares at me while the men smirk. "Enough talk about leaving. I told you we're starting over."

"Matt, I don't-" Pain explodes in the side of my face as matt slaps me.

"I said enough." I nod.

"Matthew, soon you'll be ready to take over as Capo given how you just invaded and stole from the Valentino Family," says one of the men with a scar on his left hand.

"Stole back," Matt corrects. "Whenever my old man is ready to pass on the title, I'm here."

They continue bragging about getting one over on the great Valentino Family.

How could I have been so wrong about Matt? Am I wrong about Nico too?

The man with the scar is telling a story about a time that he killed a Valentino when screams break out towards the front of the club. Everyone starts scrambling around as Matt takes me and hauls me back towards the office. Some leader he is. He locks us in then dumps me on the couch.

Matt walks over to his computer and watches something for a few minutes before coming back around shouting. "Fuck!" He kicks the chair over.

"Aren't you too old for temper tantrums?" I ask him and fear fills me when he looks towards me with such hate. Gunfire can be heard through the door.

"Why would he come? What are you to him?" My confusion must be written on my face. "They say Nico is Valentino's trigger man. The cold-hearted hit man that no one wants to be caught by. Yet he came here for you. Why?" My heart begins beating faster at his words.

"Nico is here?" I try to stand as if to go to him but stop as Matt grabs a fist of my hair and pulls.

"How many times did you fuck him?" Tears fill my eyes as he tugs harder.

"Matt stop," I tell him.

"Wouldn't sleep with me, but you lose it to that cold fucker?" Matt has a glaze look to his eyes. I don't know if he's on something or just losing it, but I need to get out of here. Matt leans in and kisses me. I bit his lip hard enough to draw blood then shove him off me. He's dazed enough to step back then laughs like a maniac.

"It is none of your fucking business who I sleep with."

"It is. It will always be."

"What did you see on that screen?"

"My men will kill off Nico and his men soon enough."

"I hate you."

A banging starts at the door and Matt smirks before walking over to the computer and checking. "Shit," he scrambles over to me and throws himself behind me. I feel the cold press of a gun against my temple and close my eyes. "Leave or I'll fucking kill her!"

"As you can see, your men are losing, and the wolves are at your door. Now, open up." My eyes fly open at the sound of Nico's voice. I almost cry in relief. There's a loud bang then the door falls.

"Come in here and I'll kill her."

Nico stands in the entrance like the devil ready to go on a warpath. His gun is pointing toward me and Matt.

"Let her go, Matthew. This is between our families not her."

"But you're wrong. You stole her. She's mine."

"No, you're wrong." Nico glances at me for a moment, "She's mine." A thrill runs through me.

"So, the heartless bastard actually cares for someone?" Matt laughs.

I squirm and he tightens his hold on me. "Matt just let me go and Nico will let you walk out of here, right Nico?" I glance at Nico to confirm my story, but his glaring is not convincing.

"Oh Callie, always so naive. Only one of us is walking out of here either him or me. But it makes me curious does she speak for you now? Are you that pussy-whipped?"

Glass shatters then Matt and I fall towards the ground. When we land, Nico is there taking Matt's gun and grabbing me. He quickly looks me over, "You hurt?"

"No," I shake my head, but wince when he touches my cheek.

Nico's eyes stir with violence as he moves me out of the way. "You wanted to see the real me? Here he is." Nico 'helps' Matt to his feet before punching him into the couch. Matt groans and I notice that the shattering glass came from the window behind us. Someone shot through the glass and hit Matt in the shoulder. I have to look away as Nico breaks Matt's jaw and I know that because it's not closing properly.

"Nico," I mutter. When he doesn't respond I say louder, "Nico!" He looks my way and stops. Just drops Matt on the couch and walks over to me.

"He's a dead man."

"I know," I whisper as I lay my head onto his chest and wrap my arms around him. "You came."

"Of course, I did." Nico grabs each side of my face and forces me to look at him. With a serious expression he says, "I never felt fear before tonight. My feelings for you are dangerous."

"Do you regret them?"

"No because loving you is the most alive, I've ever felt."

I smile watery at him, "I love you too." I kiss him and let him wash away the last couple hours for a moment.

I pull away and ask him, "Can we leave?"

"Yeah, Enzo?" I smile as Enzo limps into the room. He's alive. "Escort her to the car, I'll follow. I have some unfinished business."

I don't want to be separated from Nico, but also don't need to be around when he kills Matt.

"Nico?" When he glances at me, I say, "Hurry along, will you?"

He smirks, "Always."
