The year was drawing to a close at the prestigious Advanced Nurturing High School (AHS), a place where only the elite of society were trained to become the leaders of tomorrow. Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, a student in Class D, had navigated through his first year, successfully evading much of the attention he drew from his peers and remaining in the shadows, exactly as he had planned. However, fate had other ideas. His carefully constructed life was about to be upended by an unexpected turn of events.
It was late afternoon when Kiyotaka was called to the principal's office. As he walked down the quiet hallways, his mind raced through the possibilities. He hadn't done anything that would merit such attention—or at least, not anything that would be easily noticed. The door to the principal's office loomed ahead, and Kiyotaka knocked lightly.
"Come in," came the stern voice of Mr. Sakayanagi, the head of AHS.
Kiyotaka entered the office, his eyes catching a glimpse of the man behind the desk. Sakayanagi's presence was as imposing as ever, but something in the air felt different—charged, as though an invisible line had been crossed.
"Kiyotaka," Sakayanagi began, his voice calm yet firm. "I've just received some important news. The White Room... it's been shut down."
Kiyotaka's calm exterior didn't falter, but inside, he felt a slight ripple of surprise. The White Room, the facility that had shaped him into who he was today, was closed? The place his father, Professor Ayanokouji, had built to create the perfect human being—him—was no more? But why now? And what did it have to do with him?
"That's not the only reason I called you here," Sakayanagi continued, his eyes narrowing as he studied Kiyotaka. "Your father... well, it appears that he had other plans for you."
At the mention of his father, Kiyotaka's pulse quickened, though his expression remained perfectly neutral. He waited, knowing that whatever was coming next would not be simple.
"Your father used your DNA in an experiment," Sakayanagi said bluntly. "He created three children... artificial, but they are your biological offspring."
The words hit Kiyotaka harder than anything had in a long time. He didn't flinch, but the weight of the revelation was immense. Children? His? How had he not known?
"They're six years old," Sakayanagi added. "Twins, two girls and one boy. They've been living in a facility until now, but with the White Room's closure, their futures were uncertain. Your father's influence over them has ended, and I've taken it upon myself to ensure their well-being."
Kiyotaka blinked slowly, processing the information. Three children. Six years old. And now, it seemed, they were his responsibility. He hadn't planned for this. His entire life had been meticulously calculated, every move accounted for. This... this was beyond anything he had anticipated.
"I've arranged for you to live in a four-bedroom apartment on campus," Sakayanagi continued, as though reading his thoughts. "You will be able to take care of them there. The children are waiting for you."
Later that evening, Kiyotaka stood in the middle of his new apartment, the weight of his new reality sinking in. The space was larger than his previous dorm room, complete with modern furnishings, and a faint echo of silence lingered. A room for each of the children. He hadn't even met them yet, but they were his, tied to him in ways he could not escape.
The door to the apartment creaked open, and three small figures stepped inside, accompanied by a caretaker who bowed respectfully before leaving them alone. Kiyotaka's eyes fell on the children.
The first was a girl with striking pink hair and blue eyes. She was easy to read, her emotions playing out vividly on her face. She looked up at him with wide, curious eyes and immediately gave him a cheeky grin.
"Hi! I'm Aiko!" she said excitedly, skipping forward and holding out her hand for him to shake. "Are you really our dad?"
Kiyotaka glanced at the hand for a moment before gently shaking it. "Yes," he replied simply.
Aiko's grin widened. "I knew it! You look just like Gojo! He doesn't talk much though."
The boy, Gojo, stood next to his sister, silent and stoic. He was the spitting image of Kiyotaka, with the same brown hair and golden eyes devoid of any visible emotion. It was almost like looking into a mirror of his younger self. Gojo remained still, his hands at his sides, as he observed his surroundings with quiet detachment.
Kiyotaka nodded slightly at Gojo, recognizing the same quiet intensity in the boy that he had always carried himself. Gojo's only reaction was a small nod in return, acknowledging the silent connection between them.
The third child, Saya, had brown hair and golden eyes like Gojo, but her expression was softer, less rigid. She stood close to Aiko, her presence protective, yet she only showed a hint of emotion. Saya didn't say anything at first but simply observed him, as if measuring his worth.
"We're all here now," Saya said quietly. "What happens next?"
Kiyotaka knelt to their level, regarding them with an intensity that belied his usual indifference. "You're going to stay with me from now on. I'll take care of you."
Aiko's face lit up, practically bouncing with excitement. "Yay! Does that mean we get to stay together all the time? I don't like being away from Saya and Gojo!"
Kiyotaka nodded. "Yes. You'll all stay here."
Gojo remained silent, though his eyes flickered briefly with something unreadable. Kiyotaka wondered if the boy even had the capacity to express emotion, or if he had inherited the same emotional restraint that Kiyotaka himself had perfected over the years. And Saya... she was watching everything, observing how Kiyotaka interacted with her siblings, as though trying to understand this new dynamic.
As the evening wore on, Kiyotaka began to show them around the apartment, explaining the rooms and the basics of living together. Aiko was the most vocal, constantly asking questions and making jokes. Saya followed behind, silently supportive, while Gojo simply listened, his sharp mind clearly taking in every detail.
The next morning, Kiyotaka sat with the children at the breakfast table, the sun filtering through the windows. Aiko was chattering away, telling some story about a dream she'd had, while Saya listened quietly. Gojo sat in front of a book, already engrossed in the world of words, though his concentration flickered when Kiyotaka placed a bowl of ice cream in front of him.
Gojo's eyes widened slightly, a rare spark of life behind them. Kiyotaka almost smiled. "It's for you," he said, pushing the bowl closer.
The boy hesitated for a second before slowly reaching for the spoon. It was the first time Kiyotaka had seen any crack in his son's carefully composed exterior. Ice cream, it seemed, was a weakness they shared.
As they settled into this strange new life, Kiyotaka found himself reflecting on how different everything had become in just a few days. He was still calculating, still planning his next moves at AHS, but now there were three additional factors to consider. Three children—Aiko, Saya, and Gojo—who were, against all odds, his responsibility.
In the weeks that followed, Kiyotaka began to adjust to life as a parent. Aiko remained a whirlwind of energy, her cheeky nature bringing a strange kind of lightness into their home. Saya, though quiet, was always watching, always caring in her own way, and Kiyotaka could see that she was becoming the glue that held them together. Gojo, on the other hand, was a reflection of Kiyotaka himself—quiet, reserved, but sharp in every sense.
Suzune Horikita, Kiyotaka's classmate and occasional confidante, noticed the change in him. She approached him one day after class.
"You seem different," she observed, her tone casual but her eyes sharp.
Kiyotaka didn't respond immediately. Instead, he glanced out the window, his mind already far ahead. "Things change," he said finally. "Life moves in ways we don't always expect."
Suzune frowned, clearly unsatisfied with the vague answer, but she let it go. "If you need help," she said softly, her voice almost uncharacteristically warm, "I'm here."
Kiyotaka gave her a small nod, appreciating the offer even if he didn't show it. Life had indeed changed, and for the first time in a long while, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji found himself walking into the unknown with something more than just cold logic guiding his steps.
Now, he had a family.
