Reunion (Josh)

"Do I look okay, Dark?" I ask as I adjust the collar of my gray button up shirt. I guess realistically it didn't matter, I don't think they cared, but this was one of my only excuses in a good twenty years to actually dress up for something. And Riverside, well, it's more formal than casual. It's not like I'm wearing a suit.

He appeared behind me, his face blank and unamused. Although his dark black eyes lit up when he looked at me. He cleared his throat, then got closer to me. "Handsome. You look handsome, Josh." A smile eroded his face.

I watched my face get pinker in the mirror, but I didn't want to believe it. Whatever, I asked his opinion and he gave me it. I shouldn't be blushing, no. Never would I blush at Dark's words. Never.

I fix a few pieces of my dark spruce brown hair, then I take a moment to stare at my scarred eye. The eye that was now black in color, didn't match my natural gray one beside it, because that was the eye that planted to my face after my pact with Darktwist. I get the eye of a god, is what one the repercussions of the pact are. The god is able to see out your eye to locate where you are so they can always know. Something like that. I don't know, and I don't really care either.

Before Darktwist made that pact with me he read me the rules of a pact and recited them. I probably forget them every Sunday, and if you told me to give you one I wouldn't remember, but sometimes it will come back randomly to me. Or, Dark will recite it if I accidentally break one. Stupid. But seriously, I don't care.

"Don't tuck that in, though. You look like a grandpa." Darktwist said, then he pointed to my shirt tucked into my pants. He put both his palms on my shoulders and swung me around to face him forcefully. His hands pulled the shirt out, then he fluffed it a little to make it look less wrinkly. I found the shirt in the bottom of my closet, a bunch of books were on top of it. Who knew how long it had been in there. "There, much better."

I nodded, and Dark slightly pushed me towards my door.

"Now get. You're gonna be late," I push him, back, making him move a step back because it wasn't a harsh push. "Hey-,"

"Don't push me, idiot." I tell him, then I grip the handle of my bedroom door, and I open it. I sent out into the stone hallway of my underground hideout, basically. Well, I don't really know what to call it. A base? A bunker? Not sure, but Dark built it for me a long time ago to act as a home. It's underground, too, and it like that for the soul reason that nobody could find where I lived if they tried. It was my other attempt at hiding from the world, and I gotta say, it worked pretty damn well.

I went down a few steps into the lounge, which was basically the living room, but it had a big fireplace on the wall in front of me with chairs in front of it, then beside that was a sectional couch with a tv across it. There were a few bookshelves and some tables, but that's about it.

I went down the rest of the hallway passing the gun room, then eventually making my way up to the entrance. I clicked one of the buttons on a stone wall, and the door to the base slowly slid open, light creeping in and blinding me. I was startled by Darktwist walking up behind me, his presence so easy to tell because you can feel him always looming over you. Which he was.

I get to Riverside, and the entire parking lot is full. I didn't know this place would be so damn busy on a simple Tuesday night, but I guess some people would really rather die than not have the bread rolls they serve here. This place was known for them, but seriously, go to Olive Garden or some shit.

I finally find an open parking spot, right next to a black Acura. I opened my door, then I shoved my phone into my back pocket before shutting it. Riverside... the restaurant where most of my teenage memories surround. Same with RedRing... god, I've got to stop visiting these places that make my stomach stir until I feel like throwing up. Although I already know that nausea will be worse when I see Daniel's memorable pretty face. Even so, I think I'm already starting to feel it.
