Chills ran down my spine as her scream echoed, bouncing off the walls. I shot to my feet at the same time as the rest of the group did and started running to where Rose should've been. But she wasn't. She wasn't in the room at all.
"Where the fuck is she?!" Emelie shrieked, grabbing hold of my shirt in panic. "We've got to find her!"
"Let's go in pairs to find her. Emelie, Xavier, go back to where the ceiling collapsed. Corey, Jake, check upstairs. Sam and I will check the basement." I instructed, shivering at the mention of the basement. Everyone glanced at one another, nervousness dancing in their eyes. "Let's go!"

We all ran off in the directions that had been pointed to us. Sam was close behind me as I ran down the long corridor to be met with some drops of blood. Fresh blood. Sam and I exchanged panicked glances before legging it down the stairs to the basement. The basement was the size of this whole building, like a whole floor itself. Rose could been anywhere.
"You take the left side, I'l take the right?" Sam asked. I gave him a brief nod before darting to the left, dodging all the boxes and pillars in my way. It was dark, but I'd spot Rose's auburn hair with just a glimpse of my flashlight. I made sure to look behind the boxes and all the other shit that was down there, but I was having no luck.

Sighing, I started to make my way back to the stairway, disappointment and fear in the pit of my stomach. Where was she? I reached the stairs, not seeing Sam. He must still be looking for her.
"Colby! Right at the back, I found her!" I heard Sam yell. He didn't sound close, but not too far. I shot down the route that I saw Sam go, and after two minutes of me sprinting, I saw him. He had his back to me, holding something. I looked around trying to spot Rose before I caught a glimpse of her auburn curls on Sam's arm.
"No." I whispered as I hurled forward to get a look at the girl. My heart physically broke as I saw the state she was in. Her face was dirty and had splatters of blood on her cheeks. Her clothes were ripped and she was missing a boot. As my eyes trailed back up to her face, I noticed a pool of blood seeping around Sam's knees.
"She's been stabbed or something, Colby. We need to get her to a hospital."

I reached down and took Rose out of Sam's arms, keeping my face straight. Once she was in my arms, I turned on my heel and walked back towards the stairs.
"Go find the others. I'm going to put her in the car and drive her to the hospital. The rest of you meet us there." I told Sam as I turned towards the exit. I didn't wait to hear his reply, the only thing I could hear was my heart thumping in my ears. Rose's breathing was shallow and raspy, her skin pale. She was dying.
