The grand hall of Duke Magnus of the Pride was a stark contrast to the desolate landscape outside. Tall, arched windows framed the room, their glass panes reflecting the dying light of the setting sun. The air was thick with the scent of polished wood and burning candles, mingling with the faint hint of leather and old parchment. Rich tapestries depicting scenes of past victories hung on the walls, each thread a testament to Magnus's lineage and strength. At the head of a long, intricately carved wooden table sat Duke Magnus, his imposing figure a blend of grace and power. His dark, piercing eyes surveyed the room with a gaze that seemed to weigh every word spoken. Dressed in a deep crimson robe lined with black fur, he embodied both regality and an underlying fierceness. His presence alone commanded the respect of those gathered around him. The grand hall of Duke Magnus of the Pride was filled with the low murmur of voices. The drought that had plagued Pridefury for the past five years had become unbearable, and his advisors were growing restless. The once lush, sun-kissed fields were now brittle and dry, and the rivers that once provided life to the country had dwindled to a slow trickle. Water was becoming scarce, and the kingdom was slowly withering under the weight of the drought. Magnus stood at the head of the table, his broad shoulders casting a long shadow across the room. His dark eyes bore into each of his advisors as they spoke in turn. He had heard the same solutions repeated over and over again, none of them offering anything new. As the room quieted, Lord Gareth, Magnus's most trusted advisor, a count in nobility, cleared his throat and stood. His graying hair and stern expression lent him an air of authority, and when he spoke, the room fell silent. "Your Grace," Gareth began, his voice firm, "we are running out of time. The drought continues, and soon, even our reserves will not be enough to sustain us. The people grow desperate, and unrest is brewing in the villages."

Magnus clenched his jaw. He had heard it all before, but the weight of it still pressed heavily on him. He could feel the eyes of his council on him, waiting for his response. Gareth continued, his voice taking on a more urgent tone. "There is, however, a solution we've yet to fully consider. A marriage, Your Grace."

Magnus's brow furrowed. "A marriage?"

"A political marriage," Gareth clarified. "To Lady Francheska nueer the sister of the Duchess of Talonspire. Their country is rich in resources, especially water, which they control with tight borders. A marriage to Lady Francheska would secure an alliance with Talonspire, providing us with the resources we desperately need."

The mention of Talonspire immediately sparked conversation among the advisors. Talonspire was known for its abundance of water and fertile lands, and an alliance with them would undoubtedly be beneficial to Pridefury. Gareth's voice cut through the noise.

"Your Grace, this alliance could stabilize our realm. Talonspire is wealthy and strong, and Lady Francheska is known for her diplomatic skills. A union with her would not only give us access to water but also strengthen our standing within the Apex Realms."

Magnus's gaze darkened as he listened. He knew the logic behind Gareth's words, and he could not deny that Pridefury was in dire need. However, the idea of marrying someone for political gain left a bitter taste in his mouth. He had heard of Duchess Aurelias' Sister -beautiful, and powerful. A strategic match, no doubt, but not one of passion or choice.

"And what of my choice in this matter, Gareth?" Magnus asked, his voice low but commanding.

Gareth's eyes flickered with caution. "Your Grace, I understand this is not a decision you take lightly. But the people are suffering, and this drought shows no signs of ending. A marriage to Duchess Aurelia would bring immediate relief to our lands."
