It had been months since the Battle of Sokovia, and the Avengers had adapted to their new rhythm. With Steve and Nat heading up training and operations, the team operated like a well-oiled machine, carrying out missions around the world. Tony had taken a step back from the frontlines, focusing on overseeing operations and supporting the team from the safety of the new upstate facility. Despite this, he remained vigilant, constantly thinking about the next steps for the Avengers and their future.
Morgan, however, found herself in a peculiar position. Since Sokovia, her father had forbidden her from going on missions, despite her longing to be in the action. Instead, she spent her days in and out of the lab.
One afternoon, as she sat in her room, she aimlessly scrolled through YouTube. She stumbled upon a video that piqued her interest: "Spider-Man." Intrigued, she clicked on it. The video showed grainy footage of a masked vigilante in a red and blue suit swinging through the streets of New York, effortlessly catching a speeding bus with his bare hands.
Her curiosity piqued, Morgan decided to show the video to her dad. She found Tony in the lab, tinkering with a new piece of tech.
"Hey, Dad," she said, walking in. "You gotta see this."
Tony glanced up, raising an eyebrow. "What is it this time? Another cat video?"
Morgan rolled her eyes. "Not exactly."
She handed him her tablet, and Tony watched the video in silence. His eyes narrowed as he analyzed every move Spider-Man made. By the end of the clip, he was intrigued.
"Spider-Man, huh?" Tony muttered. "Interesting."
Over the next few days, Tony found himself unable to stop thinking about this new vigilante. A masked hero swinging around New York, displaying incredible strength and agility—it was too much to ignore. One evening, after hours of researching and reviewing surveillance footage, Tony knew what needed to be done.
He knocked on Morgan's door, finding her hunched over her desk, working on her computer. She looked up, surprised to see him standing there with a serious expression.
"Hey, kiddo. Got a minute?" he asked.
"Yeah, sure. Come in," Morgan said, motioning to the bed.
Tony sat on the edge of her bed, rubbing his hands together nervously, something Morgan rarely saw him do. She could tell he was about to ask something important.
"Everything okay?" she asked, closing her laptop.
Tony nodded slowly. "You remember that video you showed me the other day? The one with that guy catching the bus in Queens?"
"Yeah, Spider-Man," she said, tilting her head. "Why?"
Tony took a deep breath. "I've been thinking about it a lot. This Spider-Man guy... he's been consuming my precious headspace, which could be used for far more important things. Ergo, I'm making it your problem now."
Morgan blinked, not following. "Wait, what?"
Tony leaned forward, his eyes serious. "I want you to find out who this guy really is. Consider this your first solo assignment."
Morgan's eyes widened in shock. "Wait... you're giving me a mission?"
"Assignment," Tony corrected. "And yes. Training wheels are coming off. You're ready."
For a moment, Morgan was speechless. Then, it hit her. Her eyes lit up with excitement as she practically jumped up from her chair. "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Tony grinned, watching her excitement with a mix of amusement and pride. "Alright, calm down," he said, holding up a hand. "This isn't exactly what you've been begging for, but it's a start."
