As we stepped into the bustling streets of Tokyo, Japan, 2024, it felt surreal to be walking through a world that mirrored Earth in almost every detail yet with the infinite number of timelines tied to it, this was just one of countless versions. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange hue across the city as people moved about, completely unaware of the absurd level of power casually strolling down their sidewalks. Veldora was grinning like a maniac, Ramiris was in her newly created human form, and Milim was dancing around, practicing moves like some kind of pop star in training. As for me, I was just trying to wrap my head around everything.
"Master," Ciel said, now inhabiting her separate physical body—a parallel existence she had created for herself. She looked mostly human, though her presence felt more refined, almost ethereal. She had explained earlier that she had split her soul off just to see what it was like to exist independently from me. "I have completed a new body, but of course, I can return to your consciousness whenever I please."
I nodded. "Good to see you stretching your legs, Ciel."
We wandered into a nearby café, needing a break from all the walking. The place was quiet, a typical Japanese café with wooden tables and ambient music playing in the background. However, our peace was immediately disturbed when we overheard a group of what seemed to be pseudo-battle wiki fans sitting nearby, engaged in a heated debate. I could already tell this was going to be… interesting.
One of the fans, a guy with thick glasses and an obnoxious attitude, was going on a rant. "Listen, Accelerator from Toaru Majutsu no Index is easily an infinite-dimensional being because of quantum mechanics and phases in Earth. There’s no way Lucifer from DC could even touch him!"
The others nodded enthusiastically, seemingly convinced by his argument. I raised an eyebrow and glanced at Ciel. "Wait a second, isn’t every verse using quantum mechanics at some point?"
Ciel looked amused, her lips curling into a faint smile. "You’re correct, Master. The concept of quantum mechanics is not unique to any particular verse. It’s a fundamental principle of many universes. Even Naruto mentions subatomic particles and parallel dimensions. The fact that they equate quantum mechanics to infinite-dimensional power… well, that’s simply a misunderstanding of basic principles."
I couldn’t help but laugh. "So they’re really making it sound like Toaru is the only verse with infinite-dimensional stuff just because they talk about quantum mechanics and phases?"
Ciel nodded. "Indeed. It seems they are throwing around scientific terms they don’t fully understand. Quantum mechanics, after all, only deals with particle and wave functions on a small scale. These debates often get lost in hyperbole."
"Well, I don’t claim to know a lot about scientific theory, but isn’t quantum mechanics just a matter of particles and waves?" I asked, scratching my head.
Ciel gave me a teasing smile, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "You're not wrong, Master, but quantum mechanics does involve much more than that. It also includes concepts like the Hilbert space, which is often misunderstood. Hilbert space is an abstract mathematical space used in quantum theory, but it’s purely physical in nature, not related to higher-dimensional cosmology as they claim."
"So, basically, these guys are just making stuff up because they don’t really get it?"
"Precisely," Ciel said with a grin. "They're conflating the complexity of quantum mechanics with dimensional superiority, which isn’t how it works. They hear terms like 'Hilbert space' and 'infinite dimensions' and run with them, but in reality, quantum mechanics has little to do with multiversal hierarchy. It’s more about physical interactions, not higher-dimensional power."
