▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁NA-RA
The next day we had spent most of the day in the castle. I was called in to meet my potential spouses, this was the fifth one today, although it was never happening i still had to meet them unfortunately.
I sipped on my tea awkwardly as we sat in silence. The prince in front of me seemed to have lacked social skills by my observation. He shifted awkwardly in his seat and put down the cup, i was assuming he was getting ready to make conversation.
"Princess Na-Ra." He began, "you are very pleasant to the eyes."
I nearly choked on my drink. "Oh! Thank you, i guess?" This wasn't the type of conversation i had expected for.
"How do you spend your time caring for your beauty?"
I internally displaced myself from the conversation while pretending to listen. This was going to be a long day.
After the long and unnecessary meeting he had finally left. I met up with my father who had eagerly been waiting, "so? how did it go?" He asked slightly impatient.
"Not well." I said overwhelmingly, "i don't want to do this anymore, it's all unnecessary."
Father was not exactly happy but not exactly angry either, "I can see why you may not like this but we're not doing this to get you married off straight away, use this as a chance to meet people and possibly find the one."
I was silent, how could i ignore my father's wishes.
"You only have to meet a few more princes , and i heard the next one is someone you'll get along with well."
After my father had left i let out a quiet frustrated cry so no one could hear me. I quickly fixed myself up and went back to the drawing room to meet the next prince.
I bet he was going to be just like the others, rich and full of themselves just because they're of royalty. I could hear people outside so i knew he had arrived. I stood up, waiting to greet him.
The door opened and he had arrived, i would be lying if i said i wasn't in awe. This prince was definitely pleasant to the eye.
"Your highness." We both said in unison. We looked at each other after the realisation and he chuckled.
"Please sit down." I said gesturing to the chair. As he moved closer and sat down i took this chance to look at his features. He had the appearance of a prince but at the same time he didn't. He had dark green eyes that complemented his tan skin and soft auburn hair.
"Done checking me out?" He said with a low laugh. I blinked in embarrassment and looked away.
"forgive me for my rudeness." I said reaching for another cup of tea.
"I'm afraid i was no better." He said as i put the cup down. I realised i couldn't let my self get distracted by him, i wasn't here to get married and i had to make it clear.
"I have to make something clear to you." I said straightening up, "You may have come here with the intention of finding a wife but i may have to disappoint you as i did not choose to be in this situation." I waited for his reaction nervously, the previous princes i had said this to did not in fact react positively which made sense.
He smiled. A genuine smile, "let me guess, your parents made this decision for you and you did not have any choice but to agree in fear of letting them down."
I blinked this was not the reaction i was expecting, "how did you know?" I said narrowing my eyes.
"Let's just say we may be in similar situations." He said and my eyes unexpectedly softened.
"Now i feel bad for saying all that." I said trying to lighten the mood.
He laughed, "it's no problem, i like straightforward women."
We continued talking about our families and other trivial things, i had found out he had 2 elder sisters and brothers before him and the he also had a younger brother. It was oddly comforting talking to him.
I hadn't realised i left the room with a much happier mood.
"I see prince Lucas was to your liking?" My father asked catching me off guard. Lucas was his name, i couldn't believe we had been so occupied with our conversation that i had forgotten about his name.
"He was alright." I replied.
"Well you'll be happy to know he was the last prince for today." My father said and relief was written all over my face, "you're free to go now!
Upon leaving the castle i had remembered i hadn't seen Jake all day until now. It was evening and i had ate dinner in the castle before leaving.
"Hey, is everything okay?" I asked Jake while getting into the car, he didn't look too happy.
"Yeah." He replied flatly.
The drive was quiet and unexpectedly long, "we're going to the racetrack." Jake said.
"Is something wrong?" I said still trying, he didn't reply and i was getting slightly fed up, why wasn't he telling me if something was wrong. "Don't tell me then!" I said louder and angrier than i had hoped.
We had arrived to the racetrack and i was about to open the door but it was still locked. "Na-Ra." Jake called out, "i'm sorry i can't tell you what's wrong." He said but it didn't make it any better.
"Why can't you tell me? Because we're not together?" I questioned.
"Wh-What do you mean we're not together?" He was flustered.
"Well you didn't ask me anything! You just kissed me." I said as he unlocked the doors. I immediately left the car, wrapping my duffel coat around me and putting up the hood.
As i was walking someone had bumped into me, everything was just going great today and for some reason i couldn't hold my anger in.
"Hey, i'm sorry"— I cut him off.
"Lucas?"
