It was a crisp, cool fall morning. The early morning sun begins to rise from the orange sky, turning a hue of blue. The leaves of every tree painted a bright orange, red and yellow hue and falling off every branch, the air cool and windy, not a cloud in the sky, and of course it was four days away before October 31st, the day of what many consider to be the best time of year: Halloween. A night of mischief, merriment, fear, and, of course, candy.

Our story begins here on Franklin ave., where many of the houses were decorated for this special occasion. One particular house stands out amongst all the others, with many more decorations and a small corn maze starting at the driveway and leading to the backyard. This was the loud residence, and the family of 13 had just woken up to start the morning. Well, almost everyone. One child was still asleep in his room, and that child was Lincoln. He wanted to get out of bed, but he felt so cozy and toasty underneath the covers, and in the middle of an awesome dream, he didn’t want to leave his bed. As Lincoln slowly opened his eyes a little, he immediately saw a blinding gleam of sunlight pouring in through his bedroom window and then promptly shut his eyes again in a brief moment of disgruntled annoyance He slowly rolled himself over onto his other side to face away from the light and made sure his blanket was snuggly wrapped all the way around him from his toes to his neck. With no bothersome sunlight on his face now, he was free to continue laying comfortably in his bed. Held close to his soft chest was his stuffed animal bun-bun that he had slept with ever since he was a baby. Every part of him was pleasantly enveloped in such a soft and cozy comfort, and he was free to just lay there and enjoy it all.

But his slumber would soon come to an end. His bedroom door creaks open, an unseen figure crept towards his bed and reached towards him. Oblivious to the intruder’s presence, Lincoln remained asleep until he felt his shoulder being touched. Stirring from his slumber, he wakes up and turns over, only to find a ferocious Jaguar roaring at him, slashing its claws! Lincoln screamed and practically jumped out of bed, but only to find that the Jaguar was actually lily, dressed up in a Jaguar costume. The infant roared at her big brother before laughing and climbed up onto bed to hug him. Once he calmed down and knew that it was just a playful wake-up call, Lincoln laughed at his baby sister’s playful antics.

Lincoln: Well, good morning to you too, you silly cub. I see you’re practicing for when you stun people with your cuteness to get more candy.

Lily: wiwy is the best kitty. Dada’s making bweakfast.

Lincoln: Oh really? No wonder you wanted to wake me up. I can smell it, too. Just let me get dressed, and I’ll be right down.

The costumed infant growled playfully in response and waddled out the door. Rubbing the remaining bits of sleep from his eyes and stretching his arms up, Lincoln hops out of bed and suddenly speaks to the fourth wall.

Lincoln: As you may have already guessed, It’s four days before Halloween, one of my favorite holidays. The jack-o-lanterns, the spooky atmosphere, the costumes, anything about monsters, ghouls and ghosts, and best of all, the candy. And this year I’ve come up with the perfect plan to get the most and best candy. (Holds up a detailed map of the town) I can’t wait to put it in motion, but for now, I need to get ready for school…

After getting dressed and making a trip to the bathroom, Lincoln hurries downstairs where breakfast had already begun. Taking his seat, he filled his plate with pancakes shaped like ghosts, followed by eggs, bacon, and hash browns before digging in.

Rita: Good morning sleepyhead, and we thought you wouldn’t make it to breakfast.

Lincoln: Lily woke me up as part of her practicing for Halloween.

Lily: rawr!

Lynn sr: Have you decided on what to wear for your costume?

Lincoln: I’m going as David Steele, I even bought some official spy glasses and wrist watch computer accessories. What are you guys going as?
