Tuesday morning arrived with an electric buzz in the air. I rolled out of bed, my thoughts already drifting back to Kentrell Gaulden. I pulled on a casual outfit—jeans and a simple tee—and quickly brushed my hair. The excitement of the previous day had turned into nervous anticipation as I prepared for the new school day.

At East Baton Rouge High, the hallways were buzzing with students eager to see the famous new arrival. My friends—Mia, Ava, and Zoe—were already gathered by my locker, their conversation dominated by speculation about Kentrell.

"Did you hear? He's in our History class!" Mia said, barely containing her excitement.

"Yeah, I heard," I replied, trying to sound casual despite my own curiosity.

The bell rang, signaling the start of the first period. Me and my friends made our way to American History, where the chatter about Kentrell was still the hot topic. I slid into her seat, my eyes darting toward the back of the room, where Kentrell had been seated the day before.

As the teacher began the lesson, I tried to focus but found myself distracted by the thought of Kentrell. Midway through the class, I noticed him getting up and walking toward me. His presence was as magnetic as ever, drawing the attention of every student in the room.

Kentrell stopped at my desk and, with a slight, almost hesitant smile, asked, "Hey, can I borrow a pencil?"

I blinked, momentarily stunned by the direct interaction. I quickly reached into my pencil case and handed him a pencil. "Sure, here you go," I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.

Kentrell took the pencil and gave me a nod of thanks. As he walked back to his seat, I felt a mix of exhilaration and nervousness. The brief exchange had left my heart racing, and I could feel Mia's eyes on me, filled with wide-eyed excitement.

Throughout the rest of the class, I found it hard to concentrate, my thoughts constantly drifting back to the brief moment of connection with Kentrell. When the bell rang, signaling the end of the period, me and my friends gathered our things, the anticipation of the next class palpable.

Mia, almost bouncing with excitement, leaned in and whispered, "Did he really just ask you for a pencil? That's so cool!"

Tori shrugged, trying to play it cool. "Yeah, I guess so. It was just a pencil."

As they walked out of the classroom, Tori couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something significant. The brief encounter had left her with a sense of anticipation, wondering what other unexpected moments the day might bring.
