Chuuya's red yukata was a bit big on him, so as he walked, he had to hold it up so it wouldn't fall past his shoulders. The wind was also going strong, forcing him to use his ability to hold his hat in place along with the fact that it was only pushing hot summer air towards him. A certain brunet was walking next to him wearing a royal blue yukata and being annoyingly cheerful for someone who had been hiking up a mountain for a good 10 minutes, while Chuuya was quite irritated. Chuuya had tried to convince him that they could just drive up the mountain, but Dazai had insisted that they had time, and it would be fun. It was not.

His feet hurt and he was so tired from having to deal with the piece of shit next to him all day just for him to start bothering him after work to drive them to this mountain to watch some stupid fireworks. Chuuya wanted to go home but Dazai was so unrelenting and excited to see the fireworks he couldn't say no. As they got closer to the top they could hear some music playing, probably from the people at the bottom of the mountain who were having a festival of sorts.

[But if you're too drive and the music is right]

The fireworks start.

[She might let you stay but just for the night]

Dazai gasps, "Chuuya we're going to miss it!"

He grabs Chuuya's hand and starts running as fast as he can, nullifying Chuuya's ability and causing him to quickly try to keep his hat in place, "Wait asshole!"

[And if she grabs your hand and drags you along]

They make it to the top to see the fireworks. Chuuya only looked at them for a second before going to fix his yukata and making sure his hat was securely on his head. He looked back at Dazai.

He had taken off the bandage that covered his eye. He was focused solely on the fireworks going off, his eyes shining from the light of the fireworks a soft smile on his lips. He looked ethereal.

[She might want a kiss before the end of this song]

"You really like the fireworks that much?" Chuuya asked, trying to talk loud enough, over the noise of the explosions and music.

Daza's smile widens, still watching the firework show, "Fireworks only purpose is to fly up into the sky and explode, dying quickly and beautifully. Isn't that amazing? Oh, to be a firework, people would celebrate and watch my death in awe."

Chuuya suddenly felt the urge to grab on to Dazai's arm, to hold onto him just in case he decided to jump off but he refrained himself. Why should he care? If that was what the stupid mackerel wanted, who was Chuuya to stop him? Instead, he said, "Ok weirdo."

They stayed silent for a little while longer before Dazai looked at him and asked, "The moon is beautiful, isn't it."

Chuuya looked behind him where the moon was, Chuuya found it weird how Dazai knew how the moon looked despite not looking at it, "Yeah, I guess."

Dazai's smile paused before looking back at the fireworks. They stayed quiet, watching the different colors show up in the night sky. Red, pink, blue, green, yellow, purple, and orange colored the black scenery.

When the colors finally stopped showing up Chuuya turned and started walking back down the mountain when Dazai decided to talk again, "We should make this a yearly thing."

"What?"

"It could be fun! We should bring sparklers next time and maybe a cooler and some food!"

"And you expect us to carry that up and down a mountain?"

"We can use the car!"

Chuuya looked up at Dazai who was looking down at him with the brightest smile he's ever seen on him but still Chuuya shook his head. Dazai then suddenly took Chuuya's hands into his own, causing Chuuya to thank God that the wind had slowed down or else his hat would have been gone.

Dazai pleaded one more time, "Please Chuuya? It would be so much fun."

Chuuya looked up at Dazai a few more seconds before sighing, "Fine," he took his hands back from Dazai, "We can do this yearly." He rolled his eyes.

Dazai held his pinky in front of the both of them, "Promise?"

Chuuya locked his pinky with Dazai's. A final firework went off behind Dazai as Chuuya said,

"Promise."

Chuuya walked towards the grave with a single red camellia, a box of sparklers, and a single canned crab.

It was pretty pathetic, the singular flower that he picked on his way over because he supposed that he should bring it, and the single canned crab that he bought knowing it would go bad just sitting out in the open but still wanted to bring because it was his favorite. And the sparkler for memories.

He leaves the camellia and crab at the grave, sat down, and opened the box of sparklers. He took out his lighter and it sparked. It was lit for a bit before it died. Chuuya stared at it, wondering if he would have found sparklers just as amazing. Chuuya lit another one and watched it die before speaking.

"You know, when you promise to do something yearly, you have to live to the next year." Chuuya didn't know exactly who he was talking to. The grave? The grave of someone who would never answer. Yet Chuuya still waited for one. Maybe he was going crazy.

It had already been two weeks. Two weeks since he watched it happen. Two weeks since he smiled-he fucking smiled-at him on his way down. Two weeks since he realized he was powerless to do anything to save the people he cares about.

So Chuuya lit another sparkler only to watch it die. So, he lit another one. And another one. And another one. Soon he was desperately searching for one that didn't die as soon as it was lit. And before he knew it, he finished the whole box. When he realized this, he stomped on the box and threw it away in anger. He brought his knees to his chest and looked up to the sky when he felt a tear forming. He refused to cry over that bastard.

That's when he heard it. The explosion. And then the light. The dumbass had asked Hirotsu to bury him near that mountain. Chuuya was mad when he first found out, because that meant Hirotsu knew, but apparently that was little bit after their first visit, which afterwards Hirotsu kept an eye on him. Who knew that stupid idiot was smart enough not to kill himself right after requesting his burial place.

For all that he was mad before, he now smiled, "Maybe this can still be a yearly thing."

Maybe this was his amazing plan on how to get Chuuya to lighten up after it happened. Maybe not. He would never know. But for now, he just watched the lights litter the night sky, now knowing that the mackerel finally got what he wanted.

He watched for a bit before looking down, the D. Osamu clearer in the night sky,

"The moon really is beautiful."
