Jerking forward, your white nightshirt clings to your back as you gasp for air. Clutching your side, you hiss through your teeth as a sharp pain runs through your body. You slightly pull up your shirt, grazing your fingertips over the scarred skin.

Moving swiftly, you learn you've spent the night sitting against the wall.

"You have nightmares so often," Lily whispers past your cheeks and into your ear.

You're surprised to see her sitting beside you on the bed. Her features are soft as she peers at you. Her long hair is in a messy bun, a lot like yours.

Lily reaches out and pushes back the damp strands of your hair out of your face, behind your ear.

"That doesn't scare you?" you ask, your voice raspy.

She shakes her head. "At least you're not like V who destroys everything in his path."

Your body stiffens.

You haven't talked to him since the sessions. The orderlies have locked him in his room for another angry outburst. He stopped showing his face in the window whenever you'd go to check in on him.

"You like the dangerous, dominating type," she comments.

Shrugging, you rub your face in distress. Leaning over your legs, you keep your head bowed and blink your eyes to regain your composure.

You're not one to be open about your issues. You've dealt with too many people lying and leaving to be able to talk to anyone about your mind.

"In my case, I guess you could call it trauma bonding."

Lily softly giggles and tilts closer to you, "I think that's the only bond you'll find here. Get up before you have to be forcibly moved out of bed."

She surprises you with a hit on the head with the pillow you guys were fighting over last night.

"Why do you care if I'm late or not?" you mumble, tossing your long hair into a messy bun, straightening your clothing as you don't have the energy to change into the day clothes.

Shrugging, she combs her fingers through her hair, wincing when she discovers a knot at the back of her head. "I don't, but it looks bad on me as your roommate."

You can feel the warmth of Lily's gaze upon your cheek, but her lip twitches in discomfort as she continues to brush through her hair. The tension from last night still lingers in the room, the air uncomfortable and heavy.

"I'm sorry, you know, for last night. It wasn't right of me to force myself on you like that," she confesses, to your surprise.

Pausing, you look at her, realizing her once distorted face now appears solemn and regretful. Her eyes are trained on the ground, eyeing her bare feet. Apologizing isn't something she's used to doing, but at least she's trying to with you.
