I was sitting in class, my pencil tapping on the desk, I can't wait for class to be over. After school, I was hanging out with my brother, Sam. I was so excited. I couldn't wait to play with the toy our parents got us for Christmas.

My teacher is teaching us how to multiply.
I don't get it.
Sam was always a great brother to me.
He would help me with my homework.
It was quiet as my classmates were writing on their paper, solving.
I was sitting there until.

Boom.

A flash and a loud sound travels down the hallway. Nobody moved.

Boom.

This time it was louder. The students looked at the door in confusion. I could see my teachers terrified face. I was scared. Worried. Hoping my brother would come to save me.
Reality strikes as I figure out what that boom was. The booms echo down the hallway. Students were screaming and shouting.
'I'm too young to die' I thought.
I thought about how my older brother would react if his 8 year old brother was gone.
My teacher, rushing to turn off the lights, panting.
Click.
She locks the door.
My teacher waves us into a corner of the room, hiding behind a table.
As kids cry in terror, my teacher calms them down.

Boom.

I didn't move.
All I was wondering is if Sam was coming.
It goes silent.
Too silent.
We hear footsteps.
...
It gets closer.
And closer.
And then..

Boom.

A man in all black with a ski mask shoots the door open.
I thought it was over. And that my brother was here to save us.
I smile a little with a sigh of relief.
I wonder if he knows how to get out.
I quietly step out of the table as my classmates chant 'No'.
I ask him.
He turns around facing me.
That's when I realised.
He has a gun.
My eyes slowly move down to look at his gun.
In those two seconds that I did, he..

Boom.

My vision is blurry.
My head is pounding.
The man walks over to me. I can't move.
As I slowly fade away, the man walks to where I was lying. The man took off his ski mask and looks down at me.
A tear fell from his cheek to mine.
It was him.
Sam.
My own brother.
