If Senior Sister were here, she could offer advice, and she would certainly understand what Chen Er and Xuanyuan Mu were talking about.
But Senior Sister appeared and disappeared without a trace, showing up occasionally only to vanish quickly, like a pervasive wind that always seemed to blow in front of her when needed. If she wanted to actively seek out Senior Sister, she wouldn't even know whom to ask.
Yan Zhao wondered if, in her current state of confusion, Senior Sister would come to her side.
With such thoughts, she walked back to the inn but didn't encounter Senior Sister.
Yan Zhao wasn't disappointed; it was only natural. It would be surprising if Senior Sister did appear, like being able to hear the call of a deity.
As she returned to her room, someone knocked on the door.
The little fox jumped down from Yan Zhao's arms, initially intending to transform into human form but immediately lost interest upon hearing the knock.
Yan Zhao turned to the door, and for a moment, she imagined Senior Sister's graceful and gentle face.
Not knowing what this fleeting emotion meant, Yan Zhao quickly got up, her heart fluttering with a bit of unrecognized excitement and joy, and hurried to the door.
When she opened it and saw the visitor's silhouette through the crack, she felt a bit disappointed.
It wasn't Senior Sister but the noisy Lei Shuang.
Yan Zhao asked, "What's up?"
"Hey, is that the tone you use to speak to the boss?" Lei Shuang raised her hand and gave Yan Zhao a smack on the forehead, right on the still-swollen bruise.
With the added pain, Yan Zhao winced, "What kind of tone should I use?"
Lei Shuang held up a finger and said, "You need to show some respect, at least start by calling me 'boss'."
"Ah," Yan Zhao replied, "Boss, is there something you need?"
Lei Shuang: "......"
Forget it, I won't argue with a little brat.
She pushed the door open, walked into the room, and closed the door behind her before speaking. "Didn't you go with Chen Er to get the furnace? Did you find out anything?"
Yan Zhao pondered, "Chen Er said it needs to be kept a secret."
"......" Lei Shuang poked Yan Zhao's forehead. "Can't you think a little more? Would I harm her? I just want to understand the situation out of concern. If you don't tell me, how can I help her?"
Yan Zhao covered her forehead and looked up, "You want to help Chen Er?"
Lei Shuang sat down in Yan Zhao's room, took a bite of a spiritual fruit from the table, and said, "You need to tell me what happened so I can know if I can help."
Yan Zhao thought for a moment and agreed with Lei Shuang's reasoning.
So she revealed Chen Er's situation. The more Lei Shuang listened, the more serious her expression became. Finally, she said, "You said she marked a location on the map? Let me see."
Yan Zhao took out the map and showed it to Lei Shuang.
Lei Shuang examined the marked location on the map, picked up her pen, and fell into deep thought.
Yan Zhao asked, "How are you going to help?"
Lei Shuang pointed to the mark on the map and said, "This mysterious corpse puppet base is so close to the Fu Yun Sect. It's impossible that there isn't some connection. I need to check it out and verify if Chen Er's information is correct."
