"Billy!! Hurry up, we're going to be late!"

My mom was calling me for the 4th time. We were about to leave for the camp. I couldn't wait anymore, I was so excited.

I waited all year long for the school year to be done so I could finally go to that camp. I have the feeling that things will be great in this camp. I've been to other camps before but it never went well. The last summer camp I went to, people made fun of me due to my transition. They knew me as a girl and didn't see me not take well to the fact that I had changed during the year. But this summer, I know that it's going to be good.

"Billy! If I have to call you one more time, I swear, you won't be going to your stupid camp."

I finally take my last bag and throw it in the car, I grab my skate and jump in my dad's jeep.

"Where's Pa?" I ask my mom.

"Probably finishing his beer before leaving, just get in the car, he'll join us sooner or later.

I buckle my seatbelt as I sit in the backseat, the old leather creaking beneath me. My dad got in the car a moment later. My mom turns on the radio, but the signal is spotty, the sound fluctuating between clear and static-filled.

"Can you try the other stations?" I ask impatiently, as I munch on my Doritos.

My mom sighs but changes the station anyway, and we sit in awkward silence as we drive through the winding roads leading out of town.

A few hours later, we're halfway to the camp. Only 1h30 left of the ride. While driving, I look across the window, watching the trees fly under my eyes. I notice some animals such as crows, owls, squirrels, and some dead animals on the road, which makes me a bit sad, but my eyes glow as soon as I finally spot the camp.

As the car pulled up to the main gate of Camp Gleemrose, I couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and nervousness. The camp's entrance was simple, with a sign that read "Welcome to Camp Gleemrose" in bold, black letters. The trees surrounding the camp created a picturesque scene, rustling softly in the gentle breeze. My feet were bouncing on the carpet of the jeep. I was so anxious and happy. I couldn't help fidgeting as I smelled a scent of fire being made not so far away. As my dad parked the car, I had already undone my belt, looking at the other kids nearby also unpacking their things from their car. My mom sighed before getting out of the jeep.

"Ughh, finally. I couldn't feel my legs anymore." Grumbled my mother, as I was happily jumping around the car, impatiently waiting for my dad to unlock the trunk, to get my luggage out of the car.

"Here kiddo.." Said my exhausted dad, the keys clinging to his fingers, as the door slowly opened.

I pressed myself to take my stuff and bags as I rolled my suitcases on the ground, which made loud sounds against the rocky parking, my parents slowly trudging behind.

Someone accidentally bumped into me while I was eager to start my camp adventure.

"Oh my God, oh my God, I'm so so so sooo, sorry- I- I didn't mean to-" Said a masculine voice. I had fallen onto the ground. I giggled and stood back up.

"Oh, no, don't worry, it's no biggie!" I tried to reassure the guy. I looked at him. He was pretty small, had a few piercings, was impish-looking, and had dyed blond hair. "He looks so cool..." I had said to myself.

"Is it your first time here?" I asked him.

"Um, no, actually, I'm a regular camper, I come here almost every summer...-" He answered awkwardly with a strong French accent.
