The sun was almost gone, save for the faint glow hovering over the horizon. Despite this, no stars could be seen in the sky. Shin-Ae keenly observed this, looking out the window of the taxi, wishing she could be anywhere else.

"Thank you for accompanying me," said Alyssa, drawing Shin-Ae's attention back inside of the vehicle. Ever since she had started dating the youngest child in the Hirahara family, she had been attending all of these fancy events. Of course, Shin-Ae wasn't particularly fond of the events, save for the lavish food that came with them. However, she continued to attend them for Alyssa, her close friend.

Well, not that close as of late. Alyssa's singing career had been taking off. In middle school, Shin-Ae used to joke that it was a wonder they were even friends to begin with, but now it was starting to ring true."No problem," said Shin-Ae, her eyes flicking back towards the window so she couldn't see Alyssa's face, knowing that her brows were furrowed in worry.

The events hall was magnificent, all huge windows and ornate curvatures. Alyssa secured her mask as the two stepped out of the taxi. It was a dazzling baby blue, adorned with white jewels, perfectly matching her dress.

"You're going in that?" she asked Shin-Ae, eyeing the piece of paper that Shin-Ae strapped onto her face.

"I don't care what they think of me," said Shin-Ae. "I'm just here for the food." She quickly corrected herself "And you, of course". Alyssa was always so conscious of what others thought. While Shin-Ae was able to soothe her fears in school, it was transparent that they had never really gone away.

The girls weren't at the party for more than a minute before Nol sauntered up to them. Shin-Ae grimaced as he walked up to Alyssa.

"Hi, babe," he said.

"Hi, babe," she responded.

Shin-Ae watched them talk to each other; their conversation only included closed eye smiles and small talk- so boring.. She couldn't keep her mind from wandering, from noting how attractive Nol was. He had beautiful red hair and skin akin to that of rotisserie chicken- so delectable that she was tempted to take a bite. She couldn't help but think of the first time she met him.
