It was nothing unusual for the families to wait weeks before they heard from their children while in training and vice versa for the students. They would be so busy learning so much and making projects for their teachers that it was sometimes hard to find time to talk. Kael always found time every third week to reach out to his family, but it had been months since he last saw and heard from Fanmei.

He was beginning to think that it was all a figment of his imagination and that they never had talked with their minds. Because he couldn't do magic, it became easier for him to think that it was all a dream. His parents gave him good news about his brother earlier that day when he vidnet them. The amazing tech upgrade to the commnets that everybody had to wear was progressing by leaps and bounds.

This year alone, a new upgrade allows you to send your projection to the other person as if you are standing right next to them. It's called vidnet and it makes being away from everyone a little bit easier. Well, the news that he got today was that his brother was graduating a year earlier and building his own shop back home with the support of the Craftsman's Guild. Which is good for him because they will supply customers for him to build his clientele and establish himself on all three worlds.

Another feature that was added to the commnet was biometrics scanning for healing, meds adjustments, hunting (animals and people), scanning terrains and weather predictions. Some people have even managed to figure out a way to create and store spells for easier casting. Master Min was proud of his students' contributions to the development of the programs and new designs for the commnets themselves.

Kael created the self-molding material that is now used for the body of the commnets instead of velcro straps that were used before. Marl and Kael spent months creating the creating the material that would instantly mold to its owner through biometric scanners, chemical stimulation and nanobites. The commnet itself was made out of bendable leather and metal housing case for all of the tech that used to be attached to the person with uncomfortable velcro straps.

The straps would loosen over time and have to be constantly replaced but with their new material, there is nothing to replace or repair. Master Min has submitted to the guild to have Marl moved to third year and Kael along with him. Kael has scored well above all of the other first and most of the second year students.

Marl has become his best friend since they arrived at the school, which surprised both of them due to their first reactions to each other. Soon after they got there, Kael confided in Marl what had transpired between him and Fanmei and how he felt about her. Marl's astonished look on his face had Kael insecure about the whole interaction with Fanmei. After a couple of days, Marl came to him to let him know what he had found out about Fanmei.

Kael was devastated from the news, not only was she the oldest daughter of the emperor, but also the next in line for High Priestess position of the Order of Ascension on Raganos. That position doesn't allow for husbands or children because the High Priestess has to be solely committed to serving her god Odin and goddess Gaia and her order.

"Kael, snap out of it, we have to go before the guild leaders shortly and you still haven't gotten dressed. Now, stop thinking about Fanmei, move your ass and get dressed." He feels a push from behind as he gets up from the floor.

"I know Marl, but it isn't fair that we can't be together, have a family, live the rest of our lives with each other. I know from the bottom of my soul that she is my one and only. I can't even think about being with anyone else. The coldest feeling settles in my chest when I think about being with someone else." A shiver enters his whole body at the thought.

"Awe Kael, that is the sweetest thing I have ever heard." With a yelp he jumps into the air, spinning around to find where the voice came from. It took his brain half a second longer than his heart to figure out who it was.
