Over my dead body

Omniscient

Mia's body tensed up as soon as she heard Messiahs voice. Soon after, she heard footsteps coming up the stairs to the loft.

Messiah made it to the top step as he typed on his phone. He finally looked up from his phone and his eyes scanned the room before landing on her. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "What's good Mia?"

Mia sat up straighter, her body immediately on high alert. She tried to keep her expression neutral, but her mind raced with questions. Why is he up here? Does CJ know? Her voice came out more steady than she felt. "Hey. What you doing here?"

She gazed over his body. He was wearing gray sweatpants that hung low on his hips and a white tank that showed off his arms and chest tats. His muscles stretched under the fabric, and even though she told herself to focus, her eyes lingered longer than she intended. She couldn't help it—he looked good. Real good. She glanced away quickly, hoping he didn't notice.

Messiah however, noticed everything.

Messiah walked toward the bed Mia was laying on. "Came to set up the security system" Messiah said as he took his book bag off his back and sat it on the bed, pulling his laptop and equipment out.

Mia nodded and glanced back over to her phone as she watched Cj's location. It showed he was still in the area, probably in the parking garage.

Suddenly, the sound of the front door slamming shut filled the apartment. Mia looked up at Messiah in confusion and he did the same. He walked over to the balcony, leaning over it to see who it was.  He stood there for a moment, then a slow smirk spread across his face, like he knew something she didn't.

Mia raised an eyebrow, feeling a flicker of irritation. What's he smirking at? She thought

Before she could ask, Messiah casually walked back to the bed, pulling out more equipment with that same smug expression.

"Who is it?" Mia asked, trying to mask her annoyance, but the edge in her voice betrayed her.

Before Messiah could answer, Lency came up the stairs, her energy filling the loft in an instant.

"Heyyy, Messiah!" Lency practically sang, her voice overly sweet. Then she noticed Mia, her eyes widening in surprise. "Oh—hey, Mia! I didn't know you were here! You look cute!"

Lency didn't wait for a response before leaning down to give Mia a quick hug, her scent and bubbly energy completely disrupting the vibe. Mia forced a smile, though her mind was still on Messiah's smirk.

"Hey girl thank you!," Mia replied, her tone friendly enough, but there was a hint of something beneath the surface.

Lency, completely oblivious, turned her full attention back to Messiah. She crossed the room with a little extra sway in her hips, her eyes locking onto him like he was the only person in the room. "What you up here working on?" she asked, leaning just a little too close for Mia's liking.

Messiah glanced up from his laptop, his eyes flicking from Lency back to Mia for a split second before settling on Lency with that easy charm. "Just setting up these niggas security system," he said, his tone casual but laced with amusement, as if he knew exactly how Mia felt watching this little interaction unfold. "You know just making sure they shit good."

Lency giggled—actually giggled—and Mia had to resist the urge to roll her eyes.

Mia shifted on the bed, her jaw tightening. She wasn't the type to get jealous, but there was something about the way Lency was all up in his space that rubbed her the wrong way. And the fact that Messiah was clearly enjoying it didn't help.
