My father's enormous estate stood alone on a hill in Dallas, Texas. A golden gate surrounded the property, ensuring its safety. Tall burly guards sat at the front gate with Dobermann Pinschers, who were named Killa and Bones. Both were trained to bark at anything that wasn't immediate family. If need be, the dogs would sniff out and attack potential threats, too. Security were accustomed to holding them back by chains, using them as a scare tactic for strangers. You couldn't get through the golden gates without being frisked by the police officers that my dad retired. He paid them to leave the force and guard his home with their lives. I never understood why my father was so paranoid. Granted, Adym owned the majority of Edin Entertainment. He secured sixty-five percent. The other thirty-five was owned by an investment company. However, he didn't make many enemies. Everybody loved him.
The guards were only a small portion of the staff at Gaines Estate. Maids, butlers, and cooks were employed by my father. He liked a few of the maids so much that he allowed them to stay in guest rooms. "Hey, Gloria" I greeted the most familiar maid with a warm smile and side hug. She was an older black woman with a small salt and pepper fro. She had been working there since I was nineteen years old. Her children were in their forties and too busy with their own families to pay attention to their aging mother. She was pushing seventy. Age had her slowing down, but her loyalty to my father and mother earned her a forever home and job in Gaines Estate. Even when she decided to retire and live on her Social Security, my parents planned to let her stay in the mansion. They were even going to continue to pay for her healthcare, knowing Medicare wasn't the best insurance.
The rest were either around my age or younger. The unfamiliar faces surprised me because they were all attractive, young, and lively. The trust in my father had to be strong. My mother was a real one. Gloria showed me to the meeting room. I was used to the long, rectangular-shaped table and leather seats that complemented it. The walls were bluish gray and a bright chandelier hovered above the table. Surprisingly, my brother arrived before I did. He was seated across from Duvessa and Dove. I noticed the googly eyes she displayed, staring directly at Kain. He seemingly ignored her and was fixated on her mother.
I scanned the area for a seat, pausing on Egypt, who was making a very rare appearance. I suspected because of Isis. She was seated to the left of her mother. I took the right side, addressing her with another warm hug of mine. She was my long-time collaborator and my mother's ex best friend. Legend had it that they feuded over my father back in the day. It was the inspiration for both divas' biggest hit.
I didn't want to talk about that, though. Something was itching my brain and wouldn't let me rest. The complicated Giza logged out of Instagram when I assumed she was a Morgan and called her out on it. She hadn't been active on Instagram or Only Fans since. "Hey, Ebel" Isis extended a hand across her mother, wearing a bright smile that was nearly identical to Giza's. "They gotta be sisters" I thought and gave her hand a small shake, flashing a soft smile. "Hey. Isis, right? Nice to meet you. I heard you got a voice on you" Egypt lit up, ready to gush about her baby girl's talents. "You heard right. My baby has a voice sent from God and he blessed her with an ear too"
