Raine picked them up at four, just as he had promised. By then, they had packed up all their things. It was ridiculously little. Just a backpack stuffed to the brim and two bags, one with electronics and the other with clothes. Evan carried his only jacket and boots in a thick plastic bag. He also took the documents and house keys with him, explaining that despite leaving the house, it was still partly his property too.

"I was worried I'd have to haul half the house out," Raine chuckled, opening the trunk for their things. His self-painted turquoise Plymouth Fury had a spacious interior, but the trunk itself was very small. Charlie's bike had to be tied down with ropes.

"You're late, Billy already carried out everything he could," Evan laughed too, putting everything he was holding in the car and quickly stepped back. Charlie put the remaining bags in there and stared curiously at Raine. They hadn't met yet; Charlie hadn't seen him before, but he immediately felt something... familiar.

"Did you get everything?"

"I hope so. We checked everything before leaving, I don't think we forgot anything important," Evan, noticing Charlie's gaze, immediately introduced them, "Ummm, Raine, meet Charlie. He arrived here recently. Charlie, this is Raine, he's lived here all his life. You're both cool guys, what else can I say."

"Hey," Charlie grunted, shaking the extended hand and noting for himself that the mechanic's handshake was really firm.

"Nice to meet you. Evan has been telling me a lot about you lately," Raine replied, "Get in the car, let's go before Billy gets back."

"Are you afraid of him?"Charlie asked.

"I'm afraid I won't be able to hold back and hit him," Raine sighed gloomily, closing the trunk, "Damn boozer."

"I told Charlie. He helped me with my things. He... knows what happened," Evan said, sitting in the back seat of the car. Charlie jumped in after and sat next to him.

"So I won't have to avoid sharp corners," Raine said, taking the driver's seat and starting the engine, "That's good. It's nice to call a spade a spade. You're a good guy for persuading him to move. If I had known earlier what was going on here, I would have already taken Evan to my place."

"Well, here you are," Evan mumbled shyly, pressing his thigh against Charlie's, "Th-thank you... for your help, guys..."

During the first few minutes of their acquaintance, Charlie cautiously eyed Raine. For Charlie, it was still new to see someone just offering their help and actually doing something. It was already difficult to call the young Mr. Morgan a peer, but he thought on the same level as them, which made it much easier to communicate with him. Besides, Raine had some kind of strange unobtrusive charm that was hard to notice right away, but it was definitely felt and disposed to the guy. Wright tried to immediately look for red flags, warning bells in the mechanic's behavior, not because he didn't like him, but just... he always did that. Suspect everyone until they earn the right to trust. Otherwise, Charlie just didn't know how.

"So, you need a job?" Raine asked, "Evan already wrote to me about it today, I decided it would be easier to talk in person."

"Y-yes, I've only been here for two months. I started looking only now, but the locals consider the internet evil."

"Hahaha, yeah, here ads in the newspaper are still in vogue!"

"If you want to find something, you need to get up at five every morning and go to all the establishments and ask if there is any work," Evan sighed wearily, "I know, I tried. Trying to introduce a job site in Amber Hill is a dead end."

"There are only websites for those who keep up with the times," Raine said, "Your coffee shop has a good website."

"Yeah, I know, we designed it with Chantal."
