Just over two years ago, Gavi met Pedri in his first week at university. Gavi was a lost freshman, not knowing where to go for his first class. All the brick buildings looked the same. Pedri was a stranger with a friendly face passing by. He stopped and asked Gavi if he needed help. Rather than just give him directions to the building, he walked him right to the door of his class. Only afterward did Pedri admit that he made himself late to his own class by doing that. But he said it was all worth it.

Since then, Pedri had guided him in all things. Recommending which classes to take, which dorm to move into for the next semester. When Pedri asked him out, Gavi didn't see a reason to say no. Pedri was nice and good-looking. Pedri bought Gavi coffee for study sessions, took him out to lunch. He paid for everything and made the decisions on where to go for their dates and Gavi just went along with it all. They did everything together. Friends called them Pedri And Gavi, like one word. Wherever one was, the other was there too.

Gavi was sick of it.

Okay, yeah, he was dickmatized by Robert. But increasingly when he thought about the physical therapist, his heart fluttered just as often as his dick hardened. He never felt that way about any man before. Just being apart felt so painful. Robert had a busy few days and their next meeting (and supposed last meeting) was a full week later. All his thoughts revolved around the last time he saw Robert and the next time he would see him. His kisses, his body, his hands, how his arms held him... he needed Robert more than oxygen.

Gavi was in agony.

It didn't go unnoticed to Pedri who kept asking what was wrong. Gavi, at first, blamed boredom. Pedri offered to quit his summer internship early to spend more time with him. Gavi told him not to do something so stupid like that for him.

On the second day of being away from Robert, Gavi grew sullen. He lied to Pedri and told him he had a headache and needed to rest. He stayed in bed for almost twenty-four hours. He spent all that time thinking about Robert. He kept his phone turned off so he wouldn't be tempted to text him.

Pedri tried to convince Gavi to go with him to a clinic, afraid he was coming down with something. Gavi stayed in bed and said he just needed rest.

The next night, Gavi finally emerged from the bedroom and joined Pedri on the couch. He was watching some reality tv show that everyone at his office was watching. Pedri raised an eyebrow at Gavi but looked relieved to see him upright. Gavi clutched a pillow to himself. He was thinking on how best to go about the difficult conversation he knew he had to have with him.

Pedri spoke first. "Are you hungry? Should I make you a sandwich?"

Gavi shook his head. "No, I'm fine. I'm not hungry."

Pedri looked worried. "Are you sure? It's really no trouble."

It pained Gavi a little. Was there such a thing as too nice? There was probably never a right time. So he braced himself and said, "Hey Pedri? Can I ask you something?"

Pedri looked curiously at him. His tone softened when he said, "Yeah. Anything, sweetie."

Gavi tried not to cringe. 'Sweetie' came out of nowhere about a week ago, striking him like a Mack truck. It was now in regular rotation with 'prince' and 'cupcake'. Those pet names alone should be grounds enough for a break-up.

"So... I was wondering..." Gavi paused, measuring his words. "Do you ever think about other people?"

"What?"

"Like someone else you'd want to be with?"

Pedri was taken aback. "Absolutely not! Have I ever given you that impression?" He scooted over on the couch to wrap his arms around Gavi, shoving the pillow on his lap aside. "Gavi, there's no way. I would never want to be with anyone else." He kissed his cheek. "Is that what's gotten you so moody these days? Are you worried about me leaving you?"
